this is week 1.
i know we all had high hopes.
The jets are going to be a avg to a good team.
we were never out of the game.
A LOT of new players playing a real game together for the first time.
O line is supposed to be our strength but we have to give them time to gel
LONG IS A ROOKIE not a 6 year vet who was a number 1 pick
BUT A ROOKIE they make mistakes.
I am not okaying a loss
but its week one.
16 teams lost this week.
im sure not all 16 will have bad seasons.
We did a lot of things good.
And most the bad that I saw can be fixed
I just seriously cant believe im reading half these threads
lets just breathe.

Jets play NE and SD in the next 2 weeks, they can come into week 4 at 2-1

Bills play at Jacksonville and then play the raiders, Raiders I feel will be a good team this year, Bills can go into week 4 at 2-1

Patriots have the Jet's and Dolphins coming up, I feel they will sign Simms but that is still not good enough, with Brady out, they can end up 1-2 going into week 4

We have games against Arizona and NE in the next 2 weeks, we have a shot at being 2-1 going into week 4

With that being said there is no reason to be concerned at all, Patriots are mediocre at best without Tom Brady, and this division is up for grabs.

I agree that we can't be ready to stick our heads in an oven, but, OTOH, the Jets should NOT have beaten us today, plain and simple. Good teams win close games, the other types of teams *Mediocre and bad* don't. Plain and simple. I got to watch the last four plays of the game today and, I've got to admit I was shocked that out of the four I think three were play action. Did our staff think Mangini and co were going to be fooled by play action with 13 seconds left? That was painful to watch.

Imo they didn't beat us. We definately beat ourselves out there with mistakes you would expect from a young team, but as I said, With Brady out, this is 3 team scuffle for AFC East champs, with the Patsies being the odd team out.

That's your opinion, and, I respect it. I think you are wrong however. Somone once said; "You are what your record says you are." This Jet team is not that good, and, should not have come out with a W, but they did.

Exactly, but there is always a game where a team beat theirself, I just think this is a perfect example.

i think the jets beat us.
not we beat our selfs
BUT i think we will learn a lot from last week

Wow. I love your optimism. I don't necessarily agree with some of it, but it's refreshing to see nonetheless.

Lets see...last season the Dolphins were 1-15....since then they have appx 45 new players...a new QB that has only been with the team a short time...a new coaching staff...the same lousy receivers....three new players on O-line and still are very weak in the secondary.

Does anyone remember what the scores were against the Jets last season....at home...40-13...away...31-28 all Jets.

Now I don't know about anyone else...but when you add all the facts in...and then remember that they were playing against one of the best QB's to ever play the game...I'd say the Dolphins played as well as you could expect. Lets all remember again...this is a rebuilding franchise...this is only year one of that rebuild...and we meet the Jets again.

Thanks for that. Occasionally I need that slap of reality in the face. When your as sick of losing as most of us are, you tend to allow perception to become reality at times.

True. People also forget that before last year during the Patsies run since '01 we actually had been competitive vs. them in that stretch. They just won more when it counted more and they kept going up and we went to the crapola pile.

Favre made an unbelievable play among many unbelievable plays in his career and as Sparano stated one peak in the backfield and there you go both of the Green Sludge's TDs. Our D held its own. We need to stay healthy especially on the line and IMHO we will see marked improvement from last year.

The O has a long way to go. Yes, penalties and non-calls hurt but when the WRs and QB are not on the same page RB is not lining up right and a Time out burned and when we feel compelled to abandon the running game too early we will lose..period. I keep reminding myself it is only week 1. Come on people lets deal with it and stay true fans. Keep thinking patience builds character...at least to help deal with the losing til the winning comes again.

Exactly, Rome wasnt built in one day. I actually thought they played well for a very young/first season together team. Just the fact that they even had a chance to beat the jets tells a whole lot about the team. It will get better as the season goes. It usually takes a 3 year span for a Parcells team to really contend. I sucked that we lost but at it came down to the wire against a team that was supposed to beat us.

Cant complain considering we were 1-15 last year and we still need secondary help, WR help.

Please people you need to look at things in other perspectives. We could have and should have one the game. Please remember that this team has only played together for the first time this season. Not too shabby for a 1-15 team last year.

How can you expect people to be satisfied with the WAY we lost yesterday? We all realize that this team isn't playoff bound, and probably will not finish 500. But when you have chances to beat teams, especially at home against a division rival, you have to be able to do it. We certainly had chances and we couldn't get it done. The Jets are a better team than us and they let us hang around long enough that we were in position to win it at the end, so naturally when we fail to capitalize it's as frustrating as ever, and shows that while this team HAS made strides, the same old problems are still there.

Well if this was last years team it would have been worse and we wouldnt have even come close. Did you even try to look at it that way. No team in the NFL (starting rookies mostly/young team) has done well off the blocks.

Don't expect anything but improvement and they already show it buy the way they played. There were mistakes and thats a given, but the way the team played is completely different than the one last year.

The dolphins are in complete rebuilding and it has been stated by many people and experts, crap even the GM has basically stated that they are starting from the inside out.

Bottom line, as the season progresses the team will also. Don't get your pants in a uproar just because we lost one game to a team that is better than us. I'm not expecting anything but improvement and than next year we can really see where we are at. The third year is the charm.

It's already obvious that the team is already headed in the right direction. Now it's all about getting everybody on the same page and another good draft to solidify some spots that are still weak.

:)
