6 year must be minimum, rather 7 years

you are correct......no way does the #2 sign anything less than 6 years

to get an idea about how much he'll get, here are Gallery and Fitzgerald's deals (#2 and #3 overall)....also remember that in each successive year, the pick gets a markup on the previous years contract at that draft spot. Also, under league rules, since theres no CBA in place after 2006, as 2007 is an uncapped year (as of right now, something will be put into place before that happens) the signing bonus can only be prorated 3 years past the CBA expiration date. That means that as of right now, Ronnie's bonus can only be spread over 5 years if its a 6 or 7 year deal

Under the league’s collective-bargaining agreement, signing bonuses may be prorated three years past the last capped year in the contract, which is 2006. The NFL and NFL Players Union are in talks to extend the CBA, which expires after the 2007 season.

Fitzgerald signed a six-year contract with the Cardinals on Aug. 2, 2004. ESPN.com reported that the deal is worth a rookie record $60 million and includes $20 million in guaranteed money.

The Raiders have signed No. 2 overall pick Robert Gallery to a seven-year contract worth a reported $60 million, according to the Oakland Tribune. Gallery's signing bonus was said to be around $14 million.

my guess.....7 years, 63 million with a 16 mil bonus
