DEPTH. With the exception of CB, we have great depth at all our positions. Seriously if we had surtain this year we would make a strong run at the division with the rookie coach.

Even now, poole may come back, howard was capable enough in carolina, maybe he can step up. And this year we can handle injuries better.

...and coaching.

So what if Saban is a rookie.

Peter King said he is one of the top 5 overall football coaches on any level.

And I know for sure. I go to LSU and have seen Saban work.

Not to mention the killer staff he's assembled to help him.

We had good depth at most positions in 03. It's coaching that makes the difference this year.

True, now think about it, we had good depth in 03, but not very good coaching, and we won 10 games, this year we have good depth, and good coaching...are there really still people out there that expect us to go 8-8 or worse?

8-8 yes, if u had a solid qb u guys would be tough and looking at 10 or 11 wins

the one thing i love about this years team...

the one thing i love about this years team is its DEPTH. in the past if one of our top guys went down it was like our season was over but this year if we have an injury to feeley(god forbid) we have gus, if rb goes down (god forbid) we have kay jay and gordon and the same with the wr's and the line we have pretty good depth everywere but d-backs but were not done signing guys! god i cant wait until september!

but u guys suffered with wanny and the terrible waste of draft picks over the last few years, the ricky turmoil etc....

so saban will get the team in serious contention in 2 years or so, next year i can see miami in the playoffs but not going all the way, 07 looks interesting.....

it's certainly a combination of the two, improved players on the field, getting some of the best coaching in the league off the field.. should be fun this season... sure, not all of the players are going to have dramatic improvements, but that goes hand in hand with the coaching making them better for one reason or another.. Surtain's the big loss, but one that HAD to happen.. if for no other reason than to help our $$ situation for the next few years while Saban molds this team into his vision..

Lets not go crazy guys.... I'm gonna "question mark" for you

This team is severely weak in the secondary...with the exception of Madison, there really is nothing there now that poole is gone, but even he was unproven as a starter (?)

At Linebacker the dolphins should be all set...

At defensive tackle, if Bowens cant go this year and Chester cant make it back to form, the phins are in trouble (if traylor signs, that may be a different story)...everyone saw how weak the interior was last year, and these guys at 50 percent wont get the job done IMO....still somewhat weak there... (?)

D-ends - with Kevin Carter and JT, phins should be all set...

The team will return a solid defense again, but learning a new system, and SEVERELY weak in the secondary. If I am Saban, I'm hoping my guys get to the QB or tailback quickly, because if the tailback breaks free or the QB has time, I'm in deep crap.

For offense, the offensive line is very unproven. While the coaching was terrible there last year, there are still young guys there that are forced to learn another system. Gonna be improved, but a very, very weak part of the team. (?)

AJ Feeley also had terrible coaching, but he isnt the second coming of marino. Let's see what the guy can do with a Linehan rather than that Foerster the TEs coach. If he does well this season, then we can be more sure at the QB position. Don't be surprised if Frerotte passes him. Either of those guys arent superstar qbs, just average. (?)

Tailback is a big question. How is ronnie brown gonna do. Top 5 picks arent guarantees every year, and we arent used to having them to know first hand about busts. Lets hope Ronnie works out. We have plenty of quality backups for a good tailback, lets see if the big guy can cut it. thats another question mark. (?)

Wide receiver is perhaps the most stacked part of the team this year, hands down. Chambers, Booker, Boston (if healthy) are going to be lethal. A much-improved Derrius Thompson is back.

Of 8 different categories (DB, LB, DT, DE, OL, QB, RB, WR) I had question marks in five of these positions....10-6 COULD happen, but still not likely IMO.

Last time we played you guys our quarterback played better than your's.
I know jt in his face all game made him look worst than he realy is,so we added Matt Roth, and Crowder to turn up the pressure even more.
We beat you guys with no coaching,no running game,no oline, and a team that was depleted by injuries by that time of the season.
Most of these problems have been addressed, and they are improving as you read this, now don't get me wrong I know that it is a work in progress but the key word is progress.

Now you guys on the other hand have had some key losses to the coaching staff, and we all know that you can't change that many parts of an equation and get the same answer.

So enjoy hanging around and posting here but you are a smart guy and you know the dolphins are on the rise.
And the patsies as usual are going down :barf:

The coaching on offense is significantly better! We have an experienced OC and a great OL coach who will teach. I haven't even mentioned depth...we will be greatly improved.
