What Dolphins offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said Thursday:

  • It’s interesting to look at our numbers (team stats, which don’t usually add up to a 10-5 team): I don’t know how we do it. We just keep throwing blows. It hasn’t been the conventional way. It hasn’t been the way any of us are used to. We have protected the ball really well during this streak. I think we were 32nd after Week 5.
  • On Bill Belichick saying Dolphins might be most explosive team in NFL: You can count on it in the sense it keeps happening week after week but they’re not by design. You don’t design ’32’ (Kenyan Drake) not getting point of attack blocked and he runs around end for 45 yards. I don’t have an explanation for them.
  • We haven’t come close to playing as well as we can. We haven’t done everything on a Sunday. Probably the one consistent thing has been Jarvis. Jarvis is going to give us juice just by his energy. Most teams don’t have three wide receivers who can make 50-yard plays. Most have only one or two.
  • Says coaches are still learning how to use a lot of the younger guys such as Drake.
  • On whether to rest players on a week like this: I got a text from Coach Gase the night before saying we are going to play this one to win. It doesn’t matter what my philosophy is. We’re going to go. It’s like Game 1, (treat it like) a nameless, faceless opponent and we’re going to go.
  • On Jay Ajayi getting 200 yards again after several weeks of his totals trending downward: Nothing’s changed. You keep digging. You don’t hit gold every single day. You keep tunneling, some days you strike some gold. I don’t think he’s been up and down, I think he’s been unbelievably consistent. That’s a great characteristic to have. Why at Buffalo? I don’t know. Maybe percentages, we were due. It hits right in the nick of time there. It was great for us.
  • Says that kind of production from Ajayi is “really critical” around this time of year, with playoffs on the horizon. But it’s not fatal on days we can’t run, because passing game has risen in such occasions.
  • Says it’s a “great feeling” the Dolphins were able to run even after the Bills stacked their defense with four on the line and four linebackers and dared Miami to try to run.

Lots of interesting stuff.

I gotta admit it's a bit unnerving that a coach will readily admit he doesn't know what's going on lol. I guess if it's a positive, then who cares.

Also really interesting how successful we have been running against defenses with 8+ in the box. I couldn't figure it out either but we didn't just do it with big run plays either

I agree that we've been doing it with mirrors.......but we're doing it

Ozzy rules!!

We're good on third downs and big splash plays. We run the ball well and force defenses to play up while we have 3 very capable big play WR. We have balance
