Why doesn't the team look better than last year?

Why did we have some players quitting yesterday?

Why does the team seem to be getting worse as the season progresses?

Why doesn't the team look like one of those young, hungry teams that you know will "come around" soon when you watch them?

Why does the team seem to have no identity or character?

Anybody have any answers?

Nick just has to weed out the trash.

The ONLY positive coming out of this season is RB R. Brown / and the hiring of OL coach H. Houck....

Beyond that, Saban has not lived up to the coaching hype that surrounded him this off-season. He's no better than Wanny at this stage.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

i think most teams decline if the team keeps losing. at the begining of the season, everyones goal is to make the playoffs. even the cardinals are thinking playoffs. the players are human. when they believe the season is lost, i dont think they work as hard or play as well together as they would if they were winning.

players have to find other goals to go for. it may be to improve your stats, or to try to get a new contract, or it may just be pride. but if they dont find something, than they just play worse.

but all of that is thrown out the window when you play a division rival. thats why those are usually great games.

1. If you think this team looks worse than last year borrow somebody's tapes from last year and live through that again.

2. Players quit maybe because we had Sage starting, showing that basically Saban has given up on this season and was seeing what he had for next year.

3. Why does the team seem to be getting worse? They just had one really bad game yesterday, they played pretty good against atlanta they just got beat.

4. We have the oldest D in the NFL so that could be why they dont look like a young come around team. The O has an old QB that shows no promise. If you dont see the promise in the O-Line and in the RB position than you are blind.

5. Personally I think it take a team 2 or 3 years to get an identity. We have to get some players in here that Saban thinks will be strong and we will start to develop an identity. Give it a couple years and some key players from the draft and FA and we will develop a big identity.

Just my personal answers to your questions.

I want to say this, and I don't want to be blasted for it because it is my opinion. However, if you actually watch games at more of a deeper level, which I don't think 75% do, then you aren't going to agree with me I guarantee.

..anyway, here it is: THIS DEFENSIVE SCHEME IS GARBAGE. I cannot stand the scheme, period! Yeah, it may be personnel, but come on, we have 4 solid DL and 2 solid LB. We are not that weak at any position where we should suck this bad.

I have said it a million times here. JT is a great player...in a traditional DE role!! He is average at best as a rushing LB. If you can't see that, you are letting JTs persona sway you. What the hell is T-Dan doing always opening his hips and giving the inside??? Either he is afraid, or the scheme says to allow the man inside. Either way that is crap because body posture alone gives the receiver a free catch whether it be Marvin Harrison or Freddie Mitchell. If it is the inside LBs job to cover the underside that is impossible at that speed unless they cheat...which then opens up another problem at some point. I also cannot stand how we walk two LB outside each DE....that leaves 1 LB IN THE MIDDLE!! All that requires is a line to seal block the center DT's out and it leaves a gaping hole in the center. No LB on the outside is going ot make that play, and they dont, unless the opposition runs off tackles or outside.

Finally, and not to beat a dead horse, but seriously, how long does it take to realize Reggie Howard should not be playing on the f------ field? Let alone not providing him a second person to hel pdouble cover whoever he is on!! The man is a human flammable entity. He cannot play in this league and QBs know that. It is no shocker that every game QBs are purposely throwing to his man. And yesterday half the time he was on Braylon Edwards for God sake

Very interesting post. Would like to hear more of your thoughts...much better than reading the "so-and-so s*cks" threads. Why do you think they are walking the LB's up on the outside? What are the advantages of doing that?

I agree ...Everybody is complaining about the offense when we could score 30 pts a game and still lose because we stop NOBODY !!

Well, we have no CB's worth anything, which makes it tough to play defense. Daniels is probably playing best, and I'm not sure he is bonafide starter. Madison is done - slow and useless. Howard is worse. JB Brown and Paul Lankford would easily be the #1 and #2 corners on this team. Right now, it's just too big of a hole to cover up for with a good front 7.

ive had a serious problem wiht our blitzing and it does seem like we leave the middle open a lot... but maybe we just dont have the personel to run the scheme he wants... those DTs up front really have to do their job...

but we are an old as **** defense... and maybe they are wearing down... we got like zero pressure on their QBs whether blitzing or not and thats a problem...

Agreed....maybe we gave too much credit to Saban before he earned it? When will we learn.

Exactly. I don't know if we are a 30pt. per team capable offense, but when I look at this team I look at the defense and see a big BIG problem. However, Dolphin fans AND analysts overlook that because they see JT, Zach, Seau, Madison names on the cheat sheet in the booth.

Our defense sucks. We can't stop people on third down, we give up too many big plays (15+ yards). Our blitzing is friggin pathetic, school girls could do better. If I had a dollar for everytime it gets picked up and we are stuffed I'd be richer than Ronnie Brown. Don't even BOTHER!! We use to be solid verse the run and now we can't stop that it seems either. Our defense is too damn old and not enough talent. We need a safety, corner, and DE. And we need to put JT back t his DE postion but flip flop him to create mismatch and guess work. Seau needs to go (God Bless Him), Spragan has been a disappointment, but can you really see this as a shocker, he wasn't really a coveted FA?? (reminds me of Derrick Rogers!!), and not signing T-Buck and/or continuing to play Howard makes no sense.

Ya know, everyone says "the coaches no more than us, we aren't in the lockeroom". I say BS to that. I have watched every single Dolphin game the last 4 seasons, and any that was on TV prior to those years when I didn't have Sunday Ticket. Plus I watch all other games. I am sure many of you do too. I can say from an educated standpoint on personnel alone that Reggie Howard is atrocious. I actually pay attention to how he and others are specifically playing. Saban and other coaches often blame the fans for overeacting though,a nd almost implying we are idiots who just sit and yell at the TV with no real understanding of team sports or football

I have the games....and the Dolphins are playing worse....many of the games from last season the Dolphins were in many of them right to the last few minutes....and you felt ....with just some good play....some good luck they could win....when Bates took over the team played even harder....won a game against the Pats....and didn't give up....and as bad as it was last season....they didn't get shut out by a fellow basement dweller. The team has regressed....not progressed.....perhaps the process isn't working.

I don't mind the losing, that's gonna happen early on when you change coaches, but at least bring your team prepared to play. The fins didn't even bother to show up, from the first play of the game it was evident.

I'm sick of hearing about how Saban is so great because he's a Belichick guy. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't they fired from Cleveland for poor coaching? And since Belichick lost his two Right-hand men, he hasn't been exactly Tom Landry.
