IS there a player whose name you have heard mentioned to be going to us at 8 that you absolutely hate the idea of?

I personally don't want Emmanuel Ogbah, Noah Spence or A'Shawn Robinson

I know Ogbah tested well but his Film isn't anywhere near as impressive as his you'd think after seeing the numbers he put up at the combine.

Spence gets eaten up way too easily when lineman get their hands on him

A'Shawn seems like another big body to me that you wont ever get the production you want from. I also absolutely hate the track record Bama has with their linemen transitioning to the NFL.

yea...Marcell Darius is just horrible.

I think after the combine you are safe with Spence. He's a second round pick at best.

A'Shawn is about as safe of a pick as you can get. It would not bother me at all if he were the pick.

I kind of agree on Ogbah.

I guess I'd have to say Stanley.

A'shawn is an interesting one for me. Very productive, very powerful, athletic and persistent.

But watching him play, you kind of get hypnotised after a while. A lot of the snaps look very similar. It's often effective for sure, but there's a robotic element to his play where you suspect he's not thinking his way to the QB or the RB. He's just picking up his lunchpail and going to work. When what he is good at works for him, he looks a monster. In college, that happened quite a lot. In the pros, though, I don't know... Everyone gets figured out to a degree in the NFL. The more you can vary your game, the longer it'll take teams to figure you out. For that not to apply, you have to be one of those freaks like Cam Wake where tackles say "I knew what he was going to do but I couldn't stop him anyway".

A'shawn is not that guy and A'shawn will get figured out at some point, I believe. He'll still be a good tackle. The floor is high. But my fear would be the ceiling isn't much higher than that.

Just contrast with Billings. There's a guy who thinks his way downfield, in a hurry.

I decided not to caveat that comment with Marcell Dareus because everyone knows Darius is a stud but basically an anomaly. He was also drafted 5 years ago, can you name anyone since then or 5 years before who has made noise as a top D lineman in the league? I'll wait.

Hargreaves, Jack, and Apple are who I would like out of round 1.

Well at this point, with his injury, Jaylon Smith. He would have been one of my top choices prior to injury.

Jesse Williams was doing good with Seattle ,but had to take time off for a little thing called cancer..but keep a eye on him this year...So you would not take a player from Bama because of a say "Mt. Cody's" failures.
That's like saying don't draft anyone from Oregon because of Dion Jordan...or nobody from Stanford because Jon Martin was a little b**ch......three possible first rounders off this past years defensive line..but lets not look at them
because they are from Bama..

Id be disappointed if we reached for another OT or OG. Can we just pick best player available on defense?

No it's actually nothing like that. I said I don't like the track record from Bama and you got all butt hurt about it. It's an opinion, one to which you seem to be overly sensitive about.

Learn how to properly use an ellipsis.

Not butt hurt slick...just name me all the first round dLinemen from Bama that have been busts...I just want to know if there is a track record or something you made up.
Chill out dude..I'm not calling you out, I just want to know what facts you are using to form this opinion....and thanks for the writing lesson..i'm a engineer not a writer,i have a secretary for that.

Ogbah or Bosa are really the only players that interest me at 8. And I guess I could deal with VG. For a small guy I wish he ran faster though, but everything else is elite, so I'd assume he will be fine.

Trading out is the best option.

I'm leaving Jack out because I don't see any reason he Should fall to us.

I dont want interior DL.

I want Hargreaves, War. I know this is about who we dont want, but I hope III gets to us at 8. I watched the DB combine last night (funny, never watched the combine ever, and I have watched the RBS, DBS, and Lbs this year) and Hargraves stood out to me. The only other DB that looked as polished was Ramsey. Really liked listening to Mayock discuss what is important, and he cued the listener in to keeping an eye on two or three things when they were doing a couple of drills - dont remember the names of the drills though. the first one that I watched was the db started backpedaling and rotated hips one way while sprinting and then the opposite and turned and sprinted straight for twenty - Mayock said to keep an eye on the balance of the runner after the second hip turn, and how straight down the field the route was that the runner took. And that opened my eyes as to who was the most gifted. Ramsey, Hargreaves, Apple, dude from Clemson, and another that I cant remember - U Colorado I think - should have wrote it down. the did a overlay comparison of Ramsey and Pat Peterson and showed just how evenly skilled they were and shows just how much above the field Ramsey is compared to the rest. Should be trading up to try to get him, but Hargraves balance and route straightness was as good as Ramseys. Mayock was even impressed with Hargreaves hips, balance - he also like Apple very much.

It wouldn't bother me at all if we traded back for picks. We have a lot of holes to fill.
