Okay fellas this is what I saw today. First, let me say I was highly disappointed the Fins practiced on the far field which made it tough to watch line play. With that said, I was able to lock in Martin a bit and let me tell you that position is set for the next 10 years. He had Cam Wake on him a couple times. One time he stoned him and the other time he forced him way out wide when Wake tried to speed rush him. Martin also showed he can get some nice push in the running game. Our entire starting oline unit looks impressive.
Roberto Wallace. Made a sweet one handed catch down the sideline on a bomb from Moore early in practice. Couldn't tell who was covering though. Wallace also had a few drops and that was discouraging. He seems to drop the ball quite a bit when he feels contact coming. Other than that, he is looking better than last year. Seems to run crisper routes and create separation on long routes.
Lamar Miller. Another impressive day for Lamar. Shifty, patient, with an impressive burst. Great vision.
Egnew. They had him running to the flats almost all practice. Not a good day to draw any conclusions from him. He had good hands though and is a little more athletic than Fasano. Need to see more.
Koa Misi. He dropped back in zone coverage quite a bit. Looks a little lost. Had a couple short passes completed in his area. Tough to tell if he filled the holes in the running game because of how far the tram was from the stands. Also, there was no live tackling today so tough to judge him fairly.
Wilson. He's like a flying little bullet closing in on screen passes and swing passes. Also closed nicely against the run. Wasn't really tested with down field passes. Has great instincts for the position but need to see more, especially against the pass down the field. Most of the passing game today was concentrated on very short routes.
Other general observations. Almost all of Tannehill's passes were short routes, check downs, ect... He threw one long pass on an improvisational rollout and connected with BJ Cunningham who out leaped a couple 3 rd string defenders. Tannehill didn't look as sharp as other days, throwing a little behind Clay on a seam route where he was open. Part of it was Claus fault though as he didn't look for the pass on time. If he had it would have likely been a completion. I'll say this about Tanny though, he has ELITE accuracy on the sideline out routes.
What else, oh yeah Lauren Tannehill came out in her bikini and signed autographs. She looked great! Haha... I wish.
Well, that's it folks. I'll try to head back out there tomorrow and hopefully they practice on the near field.
