Before or on the April 28 draft, the Dolphins could wind up making at least one and as many as three moves at quarterback.
The team could draft a quarterback, and the team is evaluating the top players at the position.
Dolphins coach Cam Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller met Monday with LSU quarterback
JaMarcus Russell, then jetted off to work out and meet with Notre Dame quarterback
Brady Quinn. Drafting one of those quarterbacks, which likely would require Miami trading up from the No. 9 pick it now holds, could be one of multiple moves the Dolphins make at that position.
The Dolphins also recently worked out Michigan State quarterback Drew Stanton and East Carolina quarterback James Pinkney, more signals about how serious the team is about upgrading its quarterbacks.
For now, they remain the leaders to land Kansas City quarterback
Trent Green, who knows and likes Cameron. Miami and Green already have the parameters of a contract agreement in place, now the Dolphins and Chiefs must agree on their own deal.
The Dolphins and Chiefs are not engaged in any significant trade discussions, not at this time, but those talks will intensify as the draft approaches and many people around the league believe that Green is destined for Miami.
If Miami did land Green, the Dolphins could engage in yet another quarterback move. With Green, it would
not be expected to keep Daunte Culpepper...
...Miami actually would save $1.3 million in salary-cap space if it released Culpepper, who is scheduled to count $6.9 million against Miami's cap this season.
But his release would wipe his $5.6 million off Miami's books,
making his departure a much more real scenario than some think.
