i would like to know your opinion.......i think we are the best team ever when it comes to pass rush defense...i wanna know what you guys think!!!!:woot:i love the FINS forever!

I know I'm biased, and it happened a year before I was born, but I'll say no one.

1946 Bears went undefeated and won the World Championship. The 2007 New England Cheaters cheated their way to an undefeated season and almost won the superbowl.

Personally I am tired about hearing about the friggin 72 dolphins so just zip it. :D

i love the bears as the nfc but they dont .count for our 72 defense we have always been the best.....even tho i love chicago!

I would say the most important statistic is in the W and L column, and remember, we beat the Steelers on our way to the super bowl there...

In their time, they beat every team they had on their schedule. The 18-1 bears, etc etc LOST, even if its one game, you lost... in that given sunday, a team outplayed you. No team outplayed the fins that year, and thats something special.

Well, plenty of people think the '73 Dolphins were better. Including many of the Dolphin players themselves. It was more or less consensus opinion in the mid '70s through the mid '80s, then the oldtime Dolphins realized undefeated was their legend so some of them shut up about the '73 team being superior. It kind of ruins your argument that unbeaten is decisive, when so many members of both the '72 and '73 teams matter of factly state that '73 was better.

You still have a few players on those teams opining '73 was superior.

The '80s 49er teams were damn good. They would scare me. Likewise early '90s Dallas, probably the most talented teams top to bottom.

I wouldn't be as concerned with bully teams like '70s Pittsburgh or '85 Bears. Teams like that feast on lesser foes to such magnitude it bloats their reputation overall, not unlike a young Mike Tyson.

San Francisco and Dallas had manpower and smarts.

But overall it doesn't matter. That '72 goose egg is a trump card in every argument, particularly down the road. Teams like the '85 Bears are easily replaced by the 2035 Bengals, or whomever. When I was a kid the '62 Packers were the rage as best ever but now hardly anyone mentions them.

Unbeaten alone will grow exponentially in status and lore. That's why the Giants/Pats Super Bowl result was the most significant game in Dolphin franchise history in 30+ years, easily more meaningful than anything Marino accomplished, for example.

Posters in their 20s and 30s may scream to deny that now. Wait 30 or 40 years and you'll recognize the truth.

"First" and "Unbeaten" Have given the 72 Dolphins a place in football history that may never be topped. And to think they are talking about adding another game to make a 17 game season makes the 16-0 Pats regular season just another footnote in FB history. While their SB loss only adds to the 72 Dolphins glory.

In chronological order:

'73 Dolphins, '75 Steelers, '78 Steelers, 84 Niners, '85 Bears, '89 Niners, '93 Cowboys, there might be another team or 2.

I would have to say the only team in NFL history to win the super bowl and at the same time have the number one rated offense and the number one rated defense.

I forget who that team was but man they were awsome!

The 1946 Chicago Bears DID NOT go undefeated. They did win the NFL Championship but went 8-2-1 during the regular season. The 1934 Bears (13-0) and 1942 (11-0) Bears did finish their respective regular seasons undefeated but, like the 2007 NE Patriots, lost for the first and only time in the league championship game.

It pains me to say this and I will not say they are better but do deserve mention, 90,91,92,93 Bills were pretty good too. It's hard enough to get to one Super Bowl let alone 4 straight. With above said that is the most you will ever hear me give Buffalo even if I live 2 hours from the city.

Every team is better in pre-season ... but none of them can prove it when the games count ... none of them. Like the Highlander .... there can be only 1 best team ever, and I'm going with the only undefeated team ever, the 1972 Miami Dolphins.

ahhhh, with that being said . . . the 2nd best team has to be those 2007 Giants . . .definitely the second favorite team among Fin fans :woot:
