What the heck is with the national media?? THey hate us?

I've seen so many "experts" predicting us to be WORSE than last year or barely finish with 6-7 wins.... my question is how the hell do they think we've gotten worse?? There are some NFL teams who lost more than they gained this year but miami is NOT one of them...

We effectively have 2 first rounders joining the team this year, since odrick missed all of last year, new 1'st round lineman on each side of the ball...

I can see how our running game might be downgraded a tiny bit but honestly if D.thomas and l.johnson step up it should be about the same with potential to be better. And we WILL have a better line once jake long returns.

Henne has shown improvement, nobody can deny that, we also added a speedy receiver to help stretch the field... can anyone please explain to me how people are predicting us to be worse than last year??? if anything we might be one of the most improved teams in the league if henne continues to play well..

I have seen henne show a presence and pocket awareness that I have NEVER seen out of him before.... He also seems to be more involved with the offense and more of a leader..

he is also finally going through his progression instead of just staring down one receiver!!! I finally see him looking DB's off and making smart decisions, I think this guy has finally turned the corner. he looks NOTHING like he did last year when he would just stare down one receiver and had no pocket awareness at all.

I've even seen him take off running at the perfect time and get some pretty nice gains with his legs.. he's not fast but he's a smart runner

Media doesn't trust Henne yet and that's fair. They've seen this story before and you can rest assured their tune will change if Chad Henne's progress translates to wins this year.

I don't believe I've seen such 'hate' against the Dolphins in all my years as a fan. I don't recall precisely what the media thought of the team before the 1-15 season. I don't think they were predicted to have been that bad. Is it b/c not many people like Henne as a QB? What does that say about other QBs in the league who aren't exactly household names? Ex. Tarvaris Jackson, Andy Dalton, Matt Hasselbeck, John Beck/Rex Grossman, Kevin Kolb, Alex Smith, David Garrard, maybe even Matt Cassel.

I think they're looking at the teams we're playing and assume everyone has gotten better but us. San Diego get the benefit of doubt more than any other team because of the talent on their roster. No one talks about Gates being hurt, a special team that was one of the worst last year now made weaker without Sproles and the loss of Kevin Burnett, etc. Somehow, San Diego is better...makes no sense but that's because ESPN loves Phillip Rivers...and he's darn good but Norv Turner sucks. That's just one example.

Yah it's like these "experts" don't even watch the games... If any of them did they would realize Henne looks like a completely different QB... no longer looks like a confused rookie staring receivers down and making horrible throws. Now he finally has command of the offense and goes through his progression, and he finally has that pocket presence that is so important for NFL qbs.

And we all know he already had the arm to make all the throws, I've seen him throw the ball 55 yards off his back foot before O_O

If he continues to play like this all through the regular season we will be very good.. predicting us to finish behind the bills is just a joke and shows these guys don't even watch the games.

Yah I didn't even mention burnett yet and he could be the biggest addition to this team out of anyone. Him over crowder is such a big improvement it's not even funny.

Looked up this guy's stats and he has been awesome the last 2 years, he has basically been improving his whole career and finally put it together last year, he had a HUGE year last year stats wise....this year he should become a star.

I'm shocked that anyone is still suprised by this. It's been this way for as long as I can remember, granted I'm only 21, but as long as I've been a concious fan it has been nothing but hate from the media.

We were 7-9 last year, coulda been 10-6 but we wont get into that anymore. Anybody with half a mind could see that we have not downgraded at a single position. No, not even RB, if you guys remember we've had an anemic run game for a while. We were the run first team that couldnt run, remember? So I dont count that as a downgrade.

In essence, to say we will only win 2-6 games is ignorant and just plain dumb. We've gotten better across the board, with the exception of a pass catching TE, yet we are supposed to lose 1-5 more games this year???

Yea f*cking right. The media can suck on the big D for all I care, we WILL prove ourselves.

It cuts a lot wider media swath than just this ESPN hatefest, but as usual, IMO, ESPN is agenda-driven. They now have the rancid Tuna as a supposed respected savant; by underscoring how low the 11-5 Fins turnaround he "orchestrated" has allegedly sunk in the 2 years deprived of his leadership, their intent is to glorify his so-called wisdom and expertise while burying the reality of what a ****ing fraud he turned out to be.

The 6th best D in the league now upgraded, 6-2 on the road including beating the eventual SB champs in their crib and a crooked Pburgh homer ref call away from being 8-8 just does not justify this kind of derision.. sorry

Four things:

1. The media remembers the Dolphins courting Harbaugh only to stay with Sparano. They assume it is a bad situation, but ignore that the players and coaching staff fully suport Sparano. Or that Sparano is completely changing the offensive scheme to adapt to the ever evolving league. All they see is what happened in January and ignore everything in between.

2. They believe that Henne is not good and not a leader. They ignore that he has been a completely different QB in camp and preseason than last year and has become a leader. They ignore that he organized practices during the lockout and that players that didn't believe in him last season, like Marshall, do believe in him this year.

3. They see a 1-7 home record, but ignore that the Dolphins were 6-2 on the road and included a win against the eventual Super Bowl Champion Packers. Or that they would have beaten the Steelers if it were not for a blown call by the refs.

4. They point to that Miami can't compete in a division with the Patriots and Jets. Yet fail to acknowledge that the Dolphins have the most wins(among the other three East teams) against the Patriots since 2000 and have won 4 of the past 5 against the Jets.

The Dolphins on paper are Sparano's most talented team. To think they are a 3-4 win team is ridiculous. This team will be in the playoff hunt.

I remember back in the early 2000s when the Phins were usually 10-6 or 11-5, the media was much more kind. I even recall Surtain and Madison being guests on Jim Rome's radio show back then (think the Phins were 7-1 at that point). Winning most definitely gets you respect.
