Mike Tannenbaum, Dolphins Executive Vice President Of Football Operations

(On having Tannehill at quarterback) – “He really checks a lot of boxes. He can make all the throws. He’s tough, he’s durable, he’s smart. Sometimes you take those for granted, but when you have a teammate that week in and week out that’s going to answer the bell, it allows you to spend all your other time and all your other resources taking care of a lot of other needs.”

Dan Marino, Hall Of Fame Quarterback And Dolphins Special Advisor

(On his interactions with Ryan Tannehill) - “Ryan is a smart kid, a tough kid, and is continuing to grow as a player. You can tell anytime a quarterback is in a new offense it takes time. I don’t care if you’re Tom Brady or whoever. It takes time, and you could see the progress he made and continually makes throughout the year.”

(On Tannehill breaking some of his records) – “That’s just a sign of his improvement. He’s a kid that’s going to continue to grow and as time goes on, as an offense, as he understands what they’re doing offensively, we’re just going to get better and better.”

Mike Freeman, NFL Columnist For Bleacher Report

(On Tannehill being “the guy” moving forward) – “I’ve always been a big Tannehill guy…And I think you’ve answered the question of “is this your franchise guy?” and I think he’s your franchise guy. I think that question has been answered. Now just comes putting everything else around him, getting other pieces on defense. But they took a huge step forward to me.”

Pete Prisco, Senior NFL Columnist For CBSSports.com

(On Tannehill’s 3rd year) - ”He grew up. He still has problems with the deep ball, and I think that’ll come as he works on his mechanics, because he’s not like an old veteran playing the position, he relatively new to it on a competitive level like that as he didn’t play a lot of it in college. The more snaps he gets, the better he’ll get as a deep thrower. I think he’s taken the proper steps, he’s getting better. And I think when you start feeling good at the quarterback position, you’ll feel good about the other positions as well.”

I think Prisco nailed it

add a well thrown deep ball and Ryan should take the next step to top 10 QB.

LMAO! Leave it up to Wanny to compare him to Jay Fiedler.

I'm convinced Wanny believes Fiedler is a hall of famer. His love of Fiedler is completely irrational.

He's been an NFL starter for three years. The "inexperience" angle for anything he does is just bull**** now. No more excuses.

I mean look, every player has strengths and weaknesses. Even Adrian Peterson can't catch or block. But at some point you stop saying "it will come" and start saying "he's not very good at it." That being said, Tannehill's numbers with the deep ball aren't that bad -- if you exclude Mike Wallace from the sample.

Those two players just don't fit together. Some said that before he was signed. It's clear to everyone now.

>>>Dave Wannstedt, Former Dolphins Head Coach and Current FOX Sports 1 Analyst

(On Tannehill’s future in the NFL) – “Tannehill, I like him. I think he’s a winner. I think he’s a lot like Jay Fiedler. He’s a winner, but can he beat Tom Brady? At the end of the day, that’s who you have to beat. You have to beat Brady and the Mannings, and guys like Russell Wilson. It’s a quarterback game, and I think that’s where the Dolphins have to look and decide if Ryan Tannehill is good enough.<<<

Well, in the last two years he is 2-2 against Brady, he is also 1-0 against Wilson, 1-1 against Luck, and this year in their only meeting so far, he matched TD for TD against Manning, and if not for our D falling apart, he would be 1-0 against Manning....So I guess that is that Dave.

But still has way less experience than most playing the position. I don't know how that can be denied. Guys like Luck have been playing QB since they were kids. They played all through college.

Agree about the deep ball though, he didn't start struggling with it until Wallace arrived. Most people seem to think it's an issue he's had since he's been here.

So it will never be fair to compare him to Luck? That's the conceit you're offering. Because he'll always have less experience. And if you insist on playing the game that way, Tannehill isn't as good right now as Luck was as a rookie. Not to mention you act as if Tannehill not starting in college wasn't his own fault in any way. He competed for the job and lost. Luck competed for the job as a true freshman and won. But I suppose that's just a detail.

Anyway, it's not like Tannehill didn't play QB in high school. He did. He also started a year and a half in college. He's started three years in the NFL. Enough is enough. No more excuses.

Who cares what Wannstedt thinks....this is the idiot that destroyed 2 franchises......and thinks what Jay Fiedler did here qualified as being a winner.

Dave Wannstedt never recognized or obtained a really good QB in his life.

RT is trending upward all we can ask is that he continue. I was very happy with his progress this year.

Walrus, like usual, makes complete sense.

There's no more inexperience argument that can be made. Also like he said, excluding Wallace, his deep ball isn't even that bad. It's all been overblown to unbelievable standards.

I hope and trust that his deep ball will get better, but objectively, it's not good. It's easy to just chalk it up to Wallace's catch radius, but explain his statistical dropoff here. If Tannehill could consistently complete deep balls Wallace would easily be an 11-1200 yard guy and we most likely would've been in the playoffs the last 2 years... Especially in 2013.
Outside of the deep ball though, Tannehill was damn good this year.

Wannstache is a moron. If Feidler put up 27TDs, 12 picks, 65% completion, and 4K yards, with Ricky and that D, he'd have two rings.

In Jays best season he threw 20TD, and 19INT. Everytime he dropped back my stomach clenched. He wasn't even a great game manager. He was solid at best. But his turnovers were always a liability.
