Penny has played well this year and I think it is safe to say that without him we would not be in the position we are in right now. Next year is his final year of his contract. What do we do? I believe with a full season and and off season with these WR he is going to be twice as nice next year. I think you sign him to another 2 year deal and let the battle begin for the starting QB spot in 2010.
Just wanted other peoples view on this one.

i remember a quote by him sayin he wants to finish he career here, and he knows he will not be the starter forever and he would be ok with being hennes backup

Let him battle for the starting position each year, and once Henne shows something more than Penne does, let him have the reigns. Penne is a classy dude and we owe him a huge debt of gratitude with the way he has been showing us the wsy to win ball games. WHAT A GAMER!!

Penny has 3000 yards passing, and is 300 yards away from a career high in Passing Yards.
66.8% Completions is #2 for him.
His 93.7 QB rating is the best he's had since 2002.
If he plays in the next 3 games, this will be his second time ever completing 16 games.

Overall: Penny is ranked #8 in yards, and #6 in QB rating through 13 games. Not bad for a guy with a "Noodle Arm", who always gets injured :)

Stats are similar to Gus Frerotte... only with 1000 more passing yards, and 9 fewer interceptions :)

Huge Pennington fan now. I expect him to start next year. Henne and Beck keep learning and bulking up.The following year, the best QB in camp becomes the starter. I would sign Pennington for 3 more years with that understanding. I expect about the same from Penningont next year. Steady leadership and ball control offense. He might take a little more risk with the recievers, the offensive line becoming more cohesive. But, in the end he will probably have similar numbers and maybe slighltly worse.I expect more teams to be ready for the wildcat and the miami players/offensive next year. We should have a stronger schedule and our own expectations (fans & players) will lead to more mental challenges. But we will grow even more and become a real contender.thank you Favre for Pennington.

We have him for next year. I would rather wait a little while. Let's see how he is doing a few games into next year b/4 giving him another cotract. Anything can happen from now until then, including injury.

I'd try to sign him to an extension this off-season. He deserves some coin for doing so well with the team he inherited. Penny provides gritty play on the field, and leadership wherever he goes.

That said, it's a year to year thing with him, and I'm pretty sure he understands that. If/when he falters in training camp and someone is bridging the gap, open up the competition--but Penny should enter training camp as the solid #1 this Spring.

I'd like to sign him to a one year extension. If he does well again next year, other teams will be trying to lure him away before Pennington has done all he can with Henne.

Sign him to an extension, doubt he will play more than 2 years or so, but if we can keep him to help mentor our younger QBs Beck and Henne he is worth the money.

Just my opinion, who knows if he would want to be a 2nd Stringer.

I personally dont think he'd mind....if it was Henne's 4th year that is.

Besides Penny is injury prone, who knows whats going to happen. Lets just hope that the coaching staff continues to work miracles with the o-line.

Keep him. Let him Battle it out with Henne Beck and if one of them beats him out at least we know they would have beaten out a real NFL QB. If either of them had beaten out Josh McCown, that would have meant virtually nothing.

Sign him to a 1 year deal.Giving him 2 more seasons after this season

Let him retire a fin. Backup or not, i want him until his road in the NFL ends. Maybe he'd retire and become our QB's coach.

I'm not sure how old he is right now but I think we should sign him to at least two maybe three more years.

he's not going anywhere....Bill and company won't let him

Ozzy rules!!
