That didn’t win a SB or you guys though was capable of winning a SB?

I have to agree with those who said 1974. They were as talented as the teams which won the previous two SB’s but a great scramble by Stabler and Davis making the catch with 3 Dolphin defenders around him in the end zone stopped a dynasty.

I don't remember 1974. I became a fan in 1975.
For me, the best team was 1984, the year Marino set all the records. Not even close.

1984 was by far the funnest for me. Marino was God-like throwing the football.

Sometimes it is unlucky to have to go up against a team as good as the 49ers were that year.
It was my favorite season too but the problem with that team was that defense was really starting to slip. They had no chance against Bill Walsh's offense and Joe Montana.

The Dolphins also had no idea how to adjust when Walsh played 7 DBs and the OL still couldn’t stop the 49ers pass rush.

The 49ers had the best defense and the second best offense that year, behind Miami’s of course. Only a 3 point loss to the Steelers mid season kept them from being undefeated.

That game is when the 49ers went from being my 2nd favorite team all the way back to my childhood to my most hated.

But up until that game, it sure was fun from Marino throwing 5 TDs against the Redskins in week 1 to 4 TDs against the Steelers in the AFC championship game.

The 82 team was a favorite of mine ..should have won it that year.Solid defensive team that would start to get old before Marino shows up.Those few years before Dan ,was some of Dons best coaching.....I loved the Killer B’s.

1982 was a great season- that was the snow plow game year, right? Other than that...
And that Super Bowl, my all time most sickening game/loss. That Bokamper should-have-been INT ...the worst. Just the worst.

84 was the best offense we've ever had and fun to watch but as a complete team it was the 74 team for sure. The whole balance was there and the Raiders won on a play that would not allowed now. It'd be against the rules. often wonder if the fact 3 players were leaving us affected the team as well.

Yes 1974 would of been brilliant to get 3 in a row
Pity about the shocking game the Fins played against the Pats. Always wondered if they could of beaten the Bears twice in 85.
I think we would have beaten them as we matched up great and Shula > Ditka and Marino > McMahon. But the ‘85 team had flaws on D. The ‘74 team was great all around and the ‘84 team, while fielding a defense that faded down the stretch of the season still would have beaten most SB winners from that era. IMO that SF team was the 2nd best single season team in history after the ‘72 fins. And the only reason the fins get the nod is they were perfect.
