All this Marino talk got me to thinking about this.....obviously there are many candidates for this.

1) The playoff loss to Oakland 28-26 in the 1974 playoffs where the Dolphins were trying for an unprecented third consecutive Superbowl title, everyone must remember the Stabler throw at the end with Vern Den Herder dragging him down.

2) The triple overtime playoff loss to San Diego in 1981 41-38.

3) Some younger fans might say the 62-7 playoff loss to JAX that ended the Johnson era, for me its not the most disapointing because I didn't feel we were good enough that year anyway.

For me......its the 1985 AFC Championship game at the Orange Bowl, the year the Bears were dominant and only lost to Marino and the Dolphins on Monday night, we should have beaten the Pats that day and Marino should have had his second crack at a Superbowl win against that great Bears team he had already beaten....instead the Dolphins fumbled the ball 5 or 6 times(can't remember which one) and the Patsies went on to get slaughtered in Superbowl XX.

I was thinking about something like that. I was more thinking what was the best win in each decade though. It's hard to pick one lost, because they all hurt. I remember the game in '74, I was nine and I went out to the garage and took a pipe wrench to my wagon. I was too young to say the words that I say now....lol

Losing to San Fran in the Superbowl as Dan's only chance at a ring has to be up there.
That Riggins run killed me almost as much as it killed the Dolphins that day.

San Diego wore me out too but, that was such a great game it almost didn't feel like a loss.

maybe not disappointing but down right ugly :yell:

Well, from what i've heard it's got to be the 1974 Sea of Hands game, i mean we had that game won. Then Stabler throws a TD pass to his Runningback caught in between like 3 defenders, that ripped the heart out of some of my older relatives. I also agree with the San Diego one, had we beaten them i think we would have beaten the Bengals, who really weren't that good, but won the AFC Title game because Cincinatti became like -20 degrees outside and the Chargers froze.

By the Way, i thought Jacksonville would beat us anyway. That game i actually saw, but 62-7 was very disappointing, but i dont think it's more disappointing than the other games, because those games really had Super Bowl implications, and i dont think Miami was a good enough team in 2000 to win the Super Bowl.

ALL DOLPHIN FANS SHOULD AGREE WITH THAT LOSS. Because there would be no more QB comparisons saying that Dan was/is the best quarterback to ever play the game

I remember the loss to the Raiders in 1974, but I was only 8 so I was not as traumatized....I also remember the OT playoff loss to the San Diego Chargers and I remember crying after that one.....but it was a great game....unfortunately Uwe Von Schaumann blew a few big games for us....I was also mad at the way we lost to New England a few years ago when Mare shanked a couple....the Patriots would not have had that long a winning streak over a couple years because of this.....I did not take Dan's SB loss that badly as I thought San Fran had more talent...Dan never had the talent that Joe Montana had (that is why I still say Dan is the greatest QB ever)....the 62-7 loss to the Jags in Dan's last game really sucked, but at least we got rid of JJ, but Wanny sucked even more. :( :yell:

As a younger fan I can honestly say this wasn't the most disappointing loss. This loss sucked and all but in reality it was over in the 2nd quarter and I was over it by the time it was over. It really sucked, kind of embarrasing however all it was was just plain crappy. The worst loss by far for me was the loss to the patriots. THE LOSS to the Patriots. All Miami had to do is win that game and make the playoffs. They were up by enough with enough time where all Miami had to do was not make 10 really stupid errors and they would win. Miami made 10 really stupid errors that I cannot believe and Miami lost that game. That game really hurt my love of football for a while.

:eek2:The Meadowland Nightmare:hmph:

I was physically sick after that game.

:jetssuck:

How about the the Jets Monday Night Miracle. That loss really hurt me and at that point I knew wanny was a Crappy(worse word I would like to use) coach.

Mod: Thank you for that. We hope more people show that kind of restraint.

For me the worst loss was to Buffalo in the AFC championship Game..nothing even comes close to that one for me..still makes me sick..:fire:
