We know that this is a very bad football team. What we don't know is exactly how it got this way. Last year, we showed some heart, some promise, some potential for building a good team. After an offseason with Saban and a draft with Saban and a TC with Saban....this team got very bad. Very bad. I wish I knew what he did so I could say to undo it. But this team is just out of hand horrible.
We know that Saban has lost this football team. They have quit on him, and he threw them under the bus today in the post game PC. We don't know if this means he'll leave at the end of the year or not, but if he doesn't, there has to be about a 70% turnover rate in the offseason. We know the core of current players on our roster have no confidence in Saban. And we know it shows.
We know that Saban is STILL going to be defended by many on this board. What we don't know is what excuse they will use this week to deflect criticism from him.
We know that DW was a poor coach. What we don't know is how much longer he can used as a scapegoat. Most teams with new coaches had bad predecessors. I just don't see Chicago continuing to harp on Dick Jauron. I don't see the Jets fans harping on Herman Edwards, and I don't see Cheifs fans criticizing Dick Vermiel.
We know that we are probably going to get the first or second overall draft pick next year. What we don't know is if that pick will be able to help us being that this may very well be the worst Fins team since the merger of the NFL/AFL.
All we can do is hope for the best. And right now I don't know if that means winning or losing. Of course, I wanna win every week. But at the same time, I know how so many Fins fans are. We win three in a row, and all of a sudden, Saban is a genius. And he's clearly not. For the long term health of the team, I think it would be best to lose every remaining game as to hasten Saban's departure, get the best picks we can get in the draft, and start the rebuilding process with a real coach, with a real vision.
