What we learned from OTA's and mini camp.

I'm concerned about Martin's footwork playing on the right side. I know that was actually a strength of his at Stanford, but having to basically mirror every move you made over the last 4 years may not come quickly or easily for him. I totally agree that reps are the key, but not if it's going to get someone (the QB) killed...

1. Can't be worse than Marc Colombo
2. Probably not worse than Lydon Murtha for that matter
3. He played on the right side a fair amount at Stanford in their unbalanced looks

You said it, gotta have the reps to get used to the right side.

Jake Scott took every snap for the Titans last year at Right Guard.

He's still unsigned, and he's now taken two visits with the Dolphins. That tells me he's injured and the Dolphins brought him back a second time to see how much progress he's made with that injury, whatever it is.

He's been a little overrated for his 2011 performance by Pro Football Focus, among others...but nonetheless if he were healthy he would not still be jobless.

has jake scott even played football in the last 2 years...seems like i don't recall him playin in one game even in 2011...

i mean i see what ck says about he'd rather it be martin cause yeah murtha does have his own issues...but i think martin is gonna get a SERIOUS wake up call when he faces the strength he's gonna face in games if he's starting week 1...i could see him on his *** a lot

Yes, he has started 124 consecutive games for the Titans all over the past four years. PFF has him rated in the Top 10 in pass blocking in OG 2011.

biggest problem i saw with murtha last year is he doesn't possess great feet and when his footwork got choppy which i saw a lot against legit off the ball quickness and edge speed he would reach and get beaten like a drum...

i saw martin struggle with speed also though...plenty of that at stanford...

thanks...i had him mixed up with a guy i think played for the colts i guess...

and I thought he played safety for us in the 70's :)

C K must be correct that he is recovering from some injury. Two visits tells me he is still on their radar. Might be an option later especially if we have any injuries or Hick and Jerry cann't get it done.

I look forward to seeing if Garner can build off of his gameplay last season. He did fairly well filling in due to injury.

The biggest surprise, IMO, was Jerry playing LT and actually performing well Never saw that coming.

garner showed me last year that he needs to be in a phone booth...i like him much more at center or guard than i do at tackle...jerry wasn't a bad fill in tackle either when he played...although i'm sure that if we went to that well too often we'd get burnt...the left side especially...i'd be much more comfortable with him on the right side

i'd say we now have 4 guys on this roster that can play tackle or in a pinch man it for us...jerry, murtha, martin, long...much better than we've had in the past

Haha, I like that, and I'm rather embarrassed I've never heard that used before in regards to linemen... "In a phone booth". Great way to describe it.

I think the Dolphins o-line situation really shows how difficult it is to be a top tier lineman in this league. Miami has multiple guys who are "capable" or "mediocre", with a couple flashing relative brilliance at the position, but long term sustainability? I'm not seeing it. Martin is an interesting pick because he gives Miami a possible franchise RT, but without the versatility of playing guard (IMO). I don't see him doing it. Kicking to LT if Long goes down? Likely, but only if Garner is busy already.

Okay, but it's supposed to be a professional website by a professional writer. That's like me showing up to court in a track suit and not knowing the law because hey knowledge is for school not the real world you losers.

But seriously it's a very very positive article, it's not bad a read though. Do you have something to do with the website?

Don't you mean: very, very? Don't be a snob if you can't write.
