This is what we should do.

Signings:

QB: Josh McCown
Beck should start at some point, but Parcells likes working with veterans and this guy is solid. He isn't flashy or overly skillful at any one thing, but he is a game manager and can make most throws. He would be a wonderful stop gap if Beck comes out like he did this year.

WR: Andre Davis
This guy is a speedster and playmaker. Look at some of his highlights from this season while playing in a reserve role.

TE: Eric Johnson if the price stays low. If it becomes a bid war then we should go Ben Troupe.

T: Kwame Harris or Sean Locklear
Kwame has had issues with penalties but they have subsided. He has good footwork and does a good job for the most part. I like Flozell but he costs way too much for an older player. Locklear is a very very good RT who has the footwork and potential to maybe be a LT until next year when a better LT prospect comes along in the draft or in FA. Between Vernon Carey, Harris, and Locklear we could see which would be LT and RT. I would hope we could put Carey back at RT where he is very special and then have a good LT from these other two.

G: Jacob Bell
Very good guard with him and Hadnot that position would be fine barring injury. He would definitely be head and shoulders above Liwienski. For depth purposes we should also pick up someone cheap and decent like Eugene Amano from the Titans.

DE: Darrion Scott
We need another end who fits the 3-4 DE mold besides Rod Wright and Matt Roth. I still think Roth is not very good but Rome wasn't built in a day and we can address the rest in the draft. Scott is huge and a beast. He played at Ohio State which is known for pumping out awesome defensive players. He also got 5+ sacks two years in a row while playing in a reserve role. He got injured and placed on IR but he is healthy now and will come cheaply.

DT: Isaac Sopoaga
We need a NT badly and this guy is pretty much the only decent one available. He is merely a stop gap, but he is Samoan and as Cam showed us last year all we should sign and draft are Samoans.

LB: Calvin Pace, Demorrio Williams, Michael Boley
Okay Pace is the perfect blend of size and speed we need in a 3-4. Demorrio played very well in Atlanta as did Boley. Yes the Falcons are terrible, but it's their offense that is terrible. For Boley we would have to give up our fifth rounder, but he is solid and is well worth it. I know we don't have a fifth rounder, but that will be remedied in a moment.

CB: Drayton Florence, Reynaldo Hill, and Gary Baxter
We need corners. We will address it somewhat in the draft, but we still need players that can play now. They are solid. They are not Cromartie or Samuel, but they are solid and will come cheaply. For Hill we will surrender our seventh, but it's well worth it.

S: Deke Cooper
This guy is good. He covers well and bats a good bit of balls.

So we sign 15. After we cut the crap we will still be at that magical 52. :D

So who is the crap you ask. Well we already dealt with a good bit of it. Zach was the only noncrap we cut and he was awesome. I will very much miss him although I know why we cut him. WE LOVE YOU ZACH!

Joey Porter if his bonus doesn't wreck our cap which it will so we have to keep this aging money pit. Yes he did play well in the second half, but will he play well the whole season next year? He damn well better for all the money we are giving his ***.

Now the fun part. Trades.
I know everyone will hate this, but we need to trade Jason Taylor. Many teams will want him. I say we trade him to either the Broncos or the Panthers. Both run 4-3s and need another DE. I hope it would be the Panthers that would get him so he is out of the AFC. We would get back a 2nd, a 3rd, and 5th. Maybe substitute the 3rd for another player.

At that point the fifth is there to get Boley.

So now the mock.

1: I want us to trade down but no one wants to so we have to take the BPA which is Jake Long. I know everyone likes Chris but his lack of speed is not good in the NFL. I like Gholston better over but he is not a number one overall pick. He would be great at 3 or 4 if we could trade down.
2(a): James Hardy WR
Huge beastly fast limitless potential! He has only played five years of football and is already at where he is. This guy will be around the NFL for years to come.
2(b): Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB
He needs more size but is already very good.
3(a): Tavares Gooden LB
He flew under the radar so he should still be around. He is great except he doesn't make enough plays behind the LOS. I think with good coaching he will be like a Vilma or Beason who are also Canes.
3(b): Fred Davis TE
If he sticks around which I think he will. Otherwise we should get Dustin Keller who is also a TE with the same skills.
4: Ahtyba Rubin NT
Huge and underrated. Could end up being the NT we so desperately need.
5: Traded for Michael Boley
6: Chester Adams OG
Did a good job for the Bulldogs could maybe make it with hard work at the next level.
7: Bryan Smith DE
Played at a small school so he is unknown but he is a stout pass rusher with 4.7 speed and a huge frame.

So if all that worked out our roster would be:

QB: Josh McCown and John Beck
RB: Ronnie Brown, Tricky Ricky Williams, and Lorenzo Booker
FB: Reagan Mauia
WR: Ted Ginn Jr., Andre Davis, Derek Hagan, and James Hardy
TE: Eric Johnson and Fred Davis
LT: Jake Long, Kwame Harris, Sean Locklear(can also play guard), and Vernon Carey
LG: Jacob Bell, Rex Hadnot, and Chester Adams
C: Samson Satele
RG: Rex Hadnot, Jacob Bell, and Chester Adams
RT: Vernon Carey, Kwame Harris, and Sean Locklear

DE: Rodrique Wright, Matt Roth, and Bryan Smith
NT: Isaac Sopoaga, Paul Solai, and Ahtyba Rubin
DE: Darrion Scott, Matt Roth, and Bryan Smith
LOLB: Calvin Pace, Demorrio Williams, and Tavares Gooden
ILB: Channing Crowder, Tavares Gooden
ILB: Michael Boley, Tavares Gooden
ROLB: Joey Porter, Demorrio Williams, and Tavares Gooden
CB: Will Allen, Drayton Florence, Reynaldo Hill, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, and Gary Baxter
SS: Deke Cooper
FS: Jason Allen

K: Jay Feeley
P: Brandon Fields

KR: Tedd Ginn Jr. and Andre Davis
PR: Tedd Ginn Jr. and Andre Davis

no Thanks
Ya we should burn our second pick on a crummy QB from Kentucky my bad.

In all seriousness you could give a decent reply.

What I did here was take the majority of our roster under 26 years of age while still fielding a team that will win 8 or more. Plus this keeps us well under the cap so next year when we are close to the playoffs we have extra cash to spend on a FA that will be a lot stronger than this one.

I think one CB in FA would be fine if we are going to get Dominique Rodgers-cromartie in the draft
Michael Lehan just signed a 3 year contract so i am pretty sure he will be here next year and joey isnt going any where unless we got a good Draft pick for him
For Fred Davis there is NO WAY he will be there that late and we dont even have 2 3rd round draft picks
I dont like the fact of draft a OT at #1 when Vernon Carey did a pretty decent job on that side and all those FA OT pick ups i dont think will happen if we are going to be getting more OT it will probly be in the 2nd or 3rd round

That was the longest hypothesis i have ever seen, you sure do have some imagination.

The objective of this front office is to accumulate as many draft picks as possible for the next two years, while doing so, sign the least amount of low level free agents {just enough to field a roster} and go with youth youth youth.

I do appreciate your fervor though.

Look up all those players though. They don't have big names but they are awesome and cheap. Andre Davis and Calvin Pace are prime examples. Pace has done poor in the past since he was playing the wrong position but now he is an LB and plays phenomenally.

The same can be said about Michael Boley. Boley is only 25 and had 100+ tackles last season plus two picks. He is only going to get better. You tell me if a proven playmaker that young isn't worth a fifth rounder?

Also those extra picks are from dealing Taylor if we decided to do that.

Ya I did pick up too many CBs lol.

What we should do not what we will do. If we do our norm we will burn half our picks and then stand around scratching our heads thinking, "Why are we going 1-15?" lol.

I hope Bill turns it around because he's the mang!

Only part I like is the LB part.

Demorrio Williams & Micvhael Boley are some of my favroite LB'ers in the NFL.

Pace would be nice also.

But man, why would you want Kwame no offense? He is a horrid pass blocker, when I mean horrid, he's horrid.

I agree, the likelihood of that exact thing happening is not that great, but ... SOMETHING has to happen. We were 1-15 last year and we already cut like 1/6th of our team. So now we've got holes in our holes in our roster.

We are going to be very active in Free Agency as well as the draft... they've got to do something to put a better team together, and it's not just going to happen through the draft.

IMHO Tuna and Sparano aren't doing thier jobs if our offseason doesn't look something like the top of this post.... that is, bringing in proven but affordable players to upgrade what we have as well as going after more picks in the draft.

I don't understand what you're saying there... but if you're saying he will be off the board before the 57th pick, I feel sorry for the team that takes that chance.

I don't want him as a Dolphin because he's slow in release and decision making, neither of which bodes well for a team with a shaky O'line.

I'm not trying to knock him at all. I just don't see him going on Day one. If he has a stellar combine, then maybe, but he sure stunk up the Senior bowl. He reminds me of Brad Banks from Iowa about 6 years ago. Solid completion percentage, around 30TD's, only like 5 picks I think. Banks even finished runner up for the heisman.... and went undrafted. Maybe a lot more teams need quarterback this year than that year, but I have a hard time seeing Woodson go that high.

yea he does have a Slow Release but i think that with the right coaching he could become a Pretty good QB in the NFL after getting hit a couple times with that slow Release he will relize that he Can't Hang on the Ball for a long time

Oh I agree. I think you're right... someone will get him and coach him up... I just think he's going to require enough work that he he'll go early on the second day though. The Banks comparison was just an extreme example.

Wait... what's this topic about?! lol :err:
I like the new sig much better!
