why didnt we keep Feeley as a backup????

Feeley showed me a lot the year before this past season. He practically won the game against the Patriots when we had no one else out there for him. I would have much rather have seen him start this past year instead of Frerotte. He is much younger than Frerotte and cannot be any worse than a career journeymen. We also traded a 6th round pick for no reason to get a different quarterback who will not do anything here. I just dont understand that trade. It would have been easy to restructure Feeley's salary and keep him as a backup. I know Feeley is only an average quarterback but he would have made a nice backup. Why did we trade Feeley AND a 6th round pick for Lemon. I still cannot understand this trade. Now we are looking to trade another pick to acquire Harrington. I dont see how Harrington is that much better than Feeley!!!

Why do you not have faith in Sabans evaluating skills? Frerotte knew the system, Feeley obviously would of needed a lot of adjustment time. Frerotte had way more experience, and it did not work out to bad, Frerotte was 8-7 as a starter.

I do agree Feeley could be a decent backup but why go back and judge this? They are both gone. During TC last year they were both competing, AJ played in preseason, and did nothing. On to Culpepper! No more Feeley/Frerotte back up combo.

AJ Feeley doesn't even belong in the NFL, IMO. He is a terrible QB. I was glad to see him leave. If an old, journeyman back up QB can beat you out EASILY, then you lack skills. Feeley, from here on out, will likely remain 3rd string unless a team is in a desperate situation. I can't see a franchise placing faith in him as their primary back up.

How coyld Frerotte have been 8-7 as a starter when Rosenfels started against Cleveland and we lost? We only lost 7 games last year.

Numbers do not compute.

how can you say lemon is garbage before youve even seen him play. alot of people in san diego thought very highly of him and didnt want to trade him. if anything lets wait to see what he does in training camp and the pre season before we say he is garbage.

I think we should have traded Feeley cleared cap room, and then traded for that guy Daunte Culepper

Oh and yeah you can be worse than a Journeyman, Ive seen FAR worse than Gus Frerotte

We were 9-6 in games Gus started even though Sage took over that Bills game.

Why even drag up Feeleys name anymore? If he was here...if he didn`t get traded for Lemon...if he`d had a good Oline here...if he could be DCs backup...if..if..if. Well, ifs and butts were beers and nuts, we`d have a helluva party. I`m so glad that guy is gone, he will never be a starter for SD or anybody else. He couldn`t beat out Harrington at Oregon, and he couldn`t beat out Frerotte here.

OK, that was the best trade the Dolphins ever made. AJ Feeley was the biggest BUM on the Dolphins. He is right up there with Lucas and Griese. I was happy to see Cleo arrive! Plus, he was making so much money while he should have been a back-up quarterback in NFL Europe. Big props for the Dolphins and Mr. Saban for getting rid of #7!!!

Shouldnt the question you be asking yourself, Why did we trade a 2nd rounder for Feeley:confused: ? If the dumbest trade ever, was never made, you wouldnt be asking about Lemon!

Not a huge feeley fan but in his defense its hard not to get hurt when the line blocks like they did......

i think the trade was fine. it seems like Cleo might have some potential, i think Schottenheimer was kinda ticked that their GM traded him out from under his nose. plus, Cleo has to be better than Berlin at least cause Cleo isnt in NFLE and Berlin is. we needed to just get rid of Feeley, he was just a reminder of a bad past for this franchise. he won the NE game single handedly? if i remember it was our DEFENSE that sealed up that game for us. AJ showed flashes of decency, but that was it, he's gone now and we got someone who is an all pro, so lets drop it.

Not to be picky but there was another game Sage took over and won for us wasn't there?

Had those games continued the way they were going Frerotte would have been 7-8 as a starter here. But since we can't know for sure we will take those 2 games out and say Frerotte, legitally, was 7-6 as a starter here.

Don't you guys find it a little odd that GM AJ SMITH of San Diego "lets go" of Drew Brees....then, he trades a guy (Lemon) that people seem to support...just so that Rivers will stand alone as HIS CHOICE!!!
