What we shouldn't do with the #1 pick

With the #1 pick, we can do pretty much anything; all the possibilties people have mentioned seem logical. Glenn Dorsey, Chris Long, Jake Long all make sense.

Having said that, I do not think Matt Ryan is a good choice. I really don't know a whole lot about him, so I could be wrong. I believe I heard he was the most NFL-ready QB of all the QB'S.

I think, if we do need a QB, we could get someone like colt brennan or brian brohm in the later rounds. Who knows.
 
God please say no to Brennan. Also, we shouldnt take Jake Long. I dont like him, he cant handle fast DE's.
 
not to be a prick, but if you don't know much about a guy, it's probably not the wisest thing to say we shouldn't take so and so.

hell no to brennan. I like matt ryan but only if we trade down a few spots.

if we stay at one, it's a toss up between chris long and dorsey. I still haven't heard what D we are definately going to be in.

I would just as soon trade down to the high teens or low to mid twenties, to avoid the HUGE contracts.
 
Whatever we do with the first pick we shouldn't take a gamble. We should pick a guaranteed talent, a franchise player. I don't want us to pick Darren McFadden because we're pretty set at RB but I would rather puck him over Matt Ryan who has a significant amount of interceptions. No risky picks. Glenn Dorsey, Jake Long, Chris Long these are guys who are thought highly of and project to be franchise players. Whatever we get I want it to be as close to a lock as possible.I think Ted Ginn was a gamble last year. it might pay off eventually but whoever we get this year I just want it to be a solid pick. I think we're going to get much more value in the 2nd round this year. That looks to be where all the action is going to be.
 
Can we take a futures option out. In other words say look we are really bad and can we just postone our #1 pick until we can snag a real "Peyton Manning" QB, or "Orlando Pace" tackle................c'mon whatta ya say. Hey look we'll be here next year too, right after the Falcons.
 
if Colt Brennan goes undrafted i would like to get him he is quick and i just like the way he plays but i dont think we should waste a draft pick on him maybe Andre' woodson in the 3rd

He does have a significant amount of interceptions (matt ryan), but he also has an inordinate amount of attempts. over 650 last year, if I remember right.

just gonna have to trust the new FO on this one I guess.

G. Dorsey if we are running a 3-4 and line him up at DE NOT DT. I dont understand why know is mentioning this. He has the speed to play DE in a 3-4 and would take up two blockers on the outside of the line. That means either the TE and TL or a OG and OT. That leaves some room for Porter and Taylor in our blitzing packages.

McFadden is not a bad pick. Are you guys really certain Mr. Williams isnt going to be a problem. Cmon how long have been a Dolphins fan if you do. He is to unreliable. McFadden and Brown are two great backs and we can trade off chatman and williams. If we had two young backs like that we would be set for many years. The NFL is a two back system now. Parcells and Sparano are two back coaches. Jones and Barber....Brown and McFadden! Sounds like we could build around that to me and get a good big oline in there. We run a lot that gives Beck more time to become adjusted to the system and speed of the NFL. Limits his oppritunities to make mistakes and brings more men in the box to protect the run when he does make a play fake or drop back. I think Miami is running a smokescreen on McFadden. I wouldnt be suprised if we use him to trade off our pick or take him. Do we really want McFadden in a Jets uniform guys. NO... If we do trade the pick I think we will still look at a back like Felix Jones or Mendenhal. It just makes since and I dont Ricky will be back in Miami. We will trade him. He doesnt have the character Parcells and Co will be looking for. Chatman is very good but we could do better.

its been said that the buzz over Ryan is an effort to drum up interest for him, I think that this is exactly the case.

I think we should grab Henne or Flacco later and take Chris Long

Yes we need a young QB in case Beck can't get the job done..., I like C Long and Dorsey but I want to see us bolster our OT in the second round or third round
 
What we shouldn't do is use the pick. Trade the thing and start filling the 22 holes on this team...
