I'm thinking 12 wins should get it done and 11 might depending on tiebreak scenarios. Will 12 take care of it outright?

12 Wins will probably not only seal up the division, but also "homefield" throughout the playoffs.

11 Wins will be good enough to win the AFC East.

10-9 Wins will get us a Wildcard.

I don't think 12 will get us homefield throughout the playoffs, but I do think 12 wins will get a 1st rd bye

One more win than the second place team should do it.

12 definitely, 11 maybe, depending on tie breaker like you said!

The most important thing about winning a division is beating division opponents. Miami MUST beat New England at least once this season. If they beat them both times, it would almost certainly solidify the division. If they lose to New England twice, NE will win the division and Miami will be left to squabble over a possible wild card hope. Nobody wants to see that again.

It will TAke Daunte And Ronnie and CC to HAve career years

If that happens we're Superbowl champs. I don't think we need to be quite so lucky to win the East.

Our division has 2 teams at the top that are going to be very hard to predict. New England has lost key players time and again and always bounces back. Is this the year they finally slide? I think they will, but they've been making fools of people who thought that for years now. That's why I can't really knock journalists who still predict us to finish 2nd in the division.

The Dolphins have tremendous potential. If Daunte returns the 2004 version, we there's no way we don't make it to the AFC championship and should be the odds on favorite to win it all. Replace Gus' 2005 numbers with Daunte's 2004 numbers (or even just the completion percentages) and we have the best offense in the league. Do that and there's no way we end up ranked 30th in time of possession like we were last year. The defense was strong on a per play basis (9th against the pass, 7th against the run) but was on the field way too long.

Anyways, to get back to the main thrust of this topic: we don't know what we'll get out of New England. 10 wins may be enough or 13 may not do it if we drop both Patriots games. I'm thinking 11 will be the magic number as I don't see them being as dominant as they've been in the past.
