It seems to be that the past couple of years our beloved Dolphins always seem to play 2-3 games during the season that show flashes of GREATNESS, and yet they seem to always play 2-3 games that are terrible. I dont understand why they cant play consistently throughout the whole season, week in and week out. The teams that we beat in those great games are good teams that usually make the playoffs so why cant we keep it up? Some examples I can remember are Saban's first when we completely dominated the Denver Broncos in the home opener, and then we beat Carolina 2 weeks later. I believe both teams went on to the playoffs. Then there is last year were we played Chicago and New England (home game) great, and we really showed that we could be a great team against PLAYOFF caliber teams, even maybe Super Bowl caliber teams. But then we go and in the same year we get shut out at Buffalo, lose to Houston last year, and 2 years ago after beating Denver, Carolina, and San Diego we get shut out at Cleveland? Whats it gonna take for us to play with that high intensity that we obviously can show from time to time and show it every week?

I think we all feel the same way, atleast I know I do...and it frustrates me. But I dont think there is an answer to that, we will just have to trust that Cam knows what hes doing and hopefully soon we will be a playoff team, and get to the superbowl.

I hear you. I remember a few years back when I think we lost the home opener to the Houston Texans, when Wanny was the coach. I remember when we lost to the Cleveland Brownies 22-0.....we always have these games where we play a crappy team and get beat. The Pats rarely lose to crappy teams and they always seem to focus when the game is on the line in the 4th quarter. I think it comes down to focusing for 4 quarters and beating the crap out of lousy teams. I think the Redskins on opening day are a team we should beat....they have no QB and we should be able to outscore them. We need to get off to a good start as the 2nd half of the schedule is much harder.

I think i have a theory to this . first reason is our players sometimes get a big head and they let a team that they could beat sneak up and kick their ***. second reason every game from 1996 to 2006 has been to predictable , for

example jimmy 's offense run, run, and run regardless of whether we have a runningback or not.
daves offense run, run ,run and punt = to a boreing offense a predictable play calling.

nicks offense he let mularkey call the plays .(bad idea there nickwit)

we lost more games due to coach mistakes and stubborness then lack of talent (imo)
does anyone else think this has a impact in how we've been viewed.?

One thing I really liked about Jimmy Johnson was that we always came out and played well at the start of the season. Unfortunately, we never closed out well during that time because we wore down and our schemes were so vanilla on both O and D that teams found ways to exploit them as the season progressed.

Since that time we've just been inconsistent. One problem is our O-line has played very poorly early in the year for the last several seasons. We've had no continuity and its seemed to take half a year for them to gel. ANother thing that stood out to me is that we didn't close games well and would find ways to lose in the 4th quarter. I put alot of that on ultra conservative coaching. That approach of playing not too lose is rarely succesful and our staff mismanaged lots of games. So I tend to agree with Maverick on that.
