What would a Dolphins 4-3 D look like?

If the dolphins keep dansby at inside linebacker then I think we should draft zach brown....

I like the idea of switching to a 4-3. We can let Soliai and Langford walk. We can draft Quinton Coples, and this D would be ferocious.

Front seven i think is one of the defenses strong points. I do relize we need one more good pass rusher.
We really need FS and a SS, Bell is getting to the point of 2-3 years left max.
We need to draft or look in FA. Get another stud backer and we would be nasty on D.
I havent looked at who is available in Fa but im sure there is some good pick ups.

Why can't Soliai play a 4-3 like Wilfork and Ngata? Then Soliai will get the tackles and sacks that fans want to see. He played 4-3 in college so no reason why he can't be dominate in that scheme too.

Most certainly can, and he would be very sucessfull. But its about the money.

4-3 DT's are a dime a dozen honestly. A TRUE and ELITE 3-4 NT is a rare comodity in the NFL. So the money Soliai commands will come from his ability as a NT in a 3-4 scheme. Rendering him out of wage scale for 4-3 DT's.

Your best most athletic pass-rushers are Odrick and Wake, while Starks has shown he can also be pass-rushing beast from the DT position, and finally Kendall Langford (Who played DT in College) with his tall frame and long arms can be a problem for QBs to throw over. All 4 have proven to be very tough against the run.

DE: Jared Odrick
DT: Randy Starks
DT: Kendall Langford
DE: Cameron Wake

Dansby can be a very good M-LB, but I think with his insticts against the run and blitzing ability, he would be better served to play at the end. Many continue to knock Misi, but he is good against the run, and is probably one of the best setting up the edge. Burnett I think can play the M-LB, and is a better blitzer from the middle then Dansby. Both Dansby and Misi are good in coverage, Burnett is ok.

OLB: Koa Misi or FA/Draft (Sam)
MLB: Kevin Burnett (Mike)
OLB: Karlos Dansby (Will)

thats my madden defense haha, just dansby on the inside

DE : Odrick
DT: Starks
DT: Langford
DE: Wake

OLB: Burnett
MLB: Misi
OLB: Dansby

Base Defense
DE:FA or Draft pick
DT:Starks
DT:Odrick
DE: Misi

OLB: Burnett
MLB:Dansby
OLB:Wake

in passing situations

DE:FA or Draft pick
DT:Starks
DT:Odrick
DE: Wake

OLB: Burnett
MLB:Dansby

And the other spot either goes to Bell if we play Big nickle or Wilson/Allen if we play regular nickle.

As much as I would LOVE to see Zach Brown playing for the Fins, I would not take him at #9, if we are still picking at #9 I would draft Quinton Couples or a excellent RT. If we trade back towards the middle of the pack, then I would consider Brown.

I have a strong feeling Brown will light it up at the combine. Sources claim he ran a 4.2 a few years back as an OLB. If he runs anywhere in the 4.4 range, his stock will skyrocket.

Ikaika Alama Francis would be the guy on the roster i'd want at 4-3 end over koa misi

DE-Cam Wake
DT-Randy Starks
DT-Jared Odrick
DE-Quinton Coples-Draft

OLB-Kevin Burnett
MLB-E.J. Henderson-FA
OLB-Karlos Dansby

CB-Vontae Davis
FS-Sean Smith-Makes the switch to FS, his size fits this position better, probably wont happen though
SS-Yeremiah Bell
CB-Jarrett Bush-FA, had 30tckl, 2INT, 1.5 sack in 2011, he is UFA and in a recent interview said he does not expect to be back w GB, plus it would make sense because of Philbin and he would probably come cheap, he is progressing as a pretty decent CB

You can let Solai walk no problem but I think you need a 325+ lb run-stuffing replacement for him. Obviously someone cheaper. I think the best 4-3 lines have someone like that, at least for running downs. Remember how we had Keith Traylor to do that job

If both your DTs are converted 3-4 DEs and in the 6-4 300 lb range (Starks / Odrick) or even leaner (Langford / McDaniel) then they're probably going to get washed away

I wouldn't discount McDaniels at DT next to Starks. I think if you had Odrick, Starks, and McDaniels on the line you have a pretty stout 3. Now add in Wake and you have a pretty solid front 4 that can get pressure from every spot. You basically had that this year at times on 3rd down with Wake on the outside. I think Langford and Solai are gone - not that i don't think they are good players but for what they will cost it would be too much when you have guys that can replace them. If you pay them big bucks you have to take one or two of these 4 and make them backups. Tough call but i would keep Langford over Solai due to the money factor versus what you would get in production. Langford could play DT or DE possibly in the 4-3 so you might have some flexibility there.

They used 4-3 fronts plenty of times last season.

Some games they used it quite a bit.

They will rotate personal based on down and distance just like they normally do. Unless the DC they hire is going to always run the same fronts I doubt this will change.
