What do the Dolphins have to finish to consider calling this a sucessful season.

Personally at the begining of the year i didnt think the fins would have a shot. after the 2-1 start, and all the injuries to the other AFC East teams i beleived we'd win the division.

but at the start of the year i didnt expect to still be playing a meaningful game in week 15.

so i say if the team finished 8-8 just missing the playoffs, it would be a sucess.

GO FINS & NEVER GIVE UP!

here is what I think

6-10 No success

7-9 dissapointing a little...but progress

8-8 what I predicted us to be

9-7 no playoffs- Great leap forward and a success

9-7 playoffs- amazing success who would have ever thought

I think this season has already been a success regardless of what happens in the last three games.

Now that expectations have been raised however, we shouldn't settle for anything less than 8-8.

I think that we started going in the right direction when we got Saban....then to get under the cap and still get the guys we did in free agency was amazing...then we had a great draft imo and now we're most likely double the win total from last year....that's pretty good if you ask me.I think we're gonna win the division next year and the superbowl in 2007

as far as wins, 8-8 is a success, imo

but in other areas, it is already a success. the draft class is the best in years. saban has proven that he can coach against teams more talented than his. compared to wanny, thats a success in itself

8-8 from 4-12? Even 7-9 from 4-12?

Second overall pick in the draft to current playoff contenders?

I allready consider this season a success.

I think it's already a successful season. In fact, I think the season was a success as soon as both Saban and Houck were hired.

This year has been more than any of us had a right to expect.

For it to be a knockout triumph, Saban would have to announce at the end of it that we have lined up a real quarterback next year and promise us that we will not go into another season with a caretaker quarterback.

last season (i forget now) we lost alot of games by a TD or less and as pathetic as we were....we were still "in" most of the games. If a couple of plays went our way last season we easily would have been 7-9. Even then, we had so many injuries and Ricky quitting that even with the exact team healthy and not working on RB #5 by game 4 we should have won 9+ games. That said....considering new coaching, new schemes, etc. I expect from an improvement perspective to be an 8+ win season.

I already see this season as being a success. That will evidtently be tarnished if we lose our last 3 or something but we have the ball rolling. If we could finish the season 9-7 with 6 straight wins, Ronnie as ROY, a handful of Pro Bowlers and a win over NE, I really don't think we could be in much better shape.

To quote a certain head coach,

"You guys are asking me a lot of questions about making decisions about what to do, based on how the season is going. What I am focused on is, turning the corner because we are building the team for the future, so where we are this season doesn’t really matter. It doesn’t really matter. We want to see guys compete so we can know whether they need to be here, we want them to be here and if they are the kind of people we want. That is what we are trying to find out. The record doesn’t really matter, the result doesn’t matter and the score in the game doesn’t really matter. Does that make sense to anybody besides me?"

To quote that same coach

"You see this? This is Elephant doodoo. This, this is Monkey doodoo."

An 8-9 win season would be solid rebuilding year. A 9-7 record, along with winning the AFC East would be a minor miracle! :D

I hoped to see a winning team, that was learning the offense and defense and improving by the end of the season. I've seen that. Next year, after another draft and FA signings, things will be really exciting.

I do hope Linehan stays around for at least 2006 (not getting offered the Viking job for example) and the players focus on getting better in the same offense, not having to learn a new one. At least the defense will stay the same under Saban.

Success would be a "spell check"! :jk: Just givin' ya a hard time. :chuckle: But seriously, I think 8-8 would be quite a success, considering that doubles our win total from last year in Saban's first season. Pretty darn impressive if you ask me. Not only that, but I think we impressed a lot of people lately with our play, especially if we go on to win 5 or 6 in a row in the latter half of the season. Give us some momentum for next season.

Speaking about next season, I'll go on to predict he leads us to the division. Bold prediction? Maybe, but the division is currently not up to par. NE is not as dominating as it used to be....clearly nowhere the team it once was. They'll give us a fight though, no doubt about it. And we ALL know the Jets and the Bills currently show no signs of contending anytime soon. Slight improvement maybe, if at all. But I just don't see how they're gonna get better in the near future. Sooooooo, I'd say 10-6 or 11-5 seems pretty manageable to say the least.
