.. now that he can't take credit for Hickey's picks... or benefit from his expertise. ???

If this team does not improve - or only marginally improves under Tannenbum's watch next season, is it possible for Ross to see the writing on the wall that he's turning us into a Jets-sized mess that will need 2 successive GMs to dig out from under before dispatching him back to sports agency?

Tannenbaum > Hickey.

Hickey was not GM material, and his 2014 is severely overrated around these parts simply because of the suckage which was Jeff Ireland's 2013 offseason/draft.

Tannenbaum has at least helped create a successful team, even if it ultimately fell apart around him.

And I have heard nothing but great things about Grier. Tannenbaum is here to keep us from hearing words come out of Steve Ross' mouth . . . which should be considered a win from everybody's perspective.

Not sure why it's so hard to believe that Grier will be heading up personnel and Gase making decisions on roster. I truly think Tannenbaum's main priority is too keep Ross from looking like a fool.

If we're not trending upward over the next 3 years, Ross will have to fire Tannenbaum. However, make no mistake, Tannenbaum will be in charge for the next 3 years.

Death. Ross and Tannenbaum is a romance for the ages. Tannenbaum is the perfect salesman for fools. That fits Ross perfectly. A decade of underperformance (which is coming) won't have any effect on Tannenbaum's status. Not until Ross dies or gives up the team.

depends how long it takes for another brownnose to squirrel his way in behind the scenes

Ross would only fire him if we start to win. Ross is a jets fan and bought the team to sonk it as deep as posible

Ozzy rules

Unfortunately I don't think there's any way he gets fired in the next 2 years unless he accidentally blows up half the stadium or something.

We are the only team that would give Tannenbaum the power he has. Unfortunately, I think he has, at the very least, 3 years of job security.

Thanks Ross

Ross to come home and find him with his old lady.

Beyond that a couple more 6 win seasons should do the trick.

I think so too. I can't see T-Baum meddling with his new hires that much, or else he's going to create another finger-pointing atmosphere. Could you imagine him firing guys because they made Tannenbaum's own decisions? Ross wouldn't like the look of it, another big instability mess.
If he's smart, he'll give his recommendations to them at every juncture, let them do as they please, and then evaluate them at the end of every season.
