What would it take from Henne

He just needs to show that he is competent as a QB and can lead the team. He is acutally quite good on 3rd down which is CRITICAL for a NFL QB. What he needs to imporve on now is 4th quarter performance. Hes has some good one and some REALLY aweful ones.
 
90% of Denver's fan base dislike "3 and Out Orton" since with career 60.8% 3rd down QBR, leaving the D backed up, and a track record of 4th quarter futility. So what I'd like to see from Henne is at least a 75% 3rd down QBR, maybe a 33% ratio of TDs to red zone formations and an ability not to implode in the 4th quarter... if nothing more than to confirm what a bad decision our so-called "braintrusts" almost made in desperation
 
I am not looking for specific stats. All I want is for him to stay consistent and to make better decisions. I blame part of it on Henning's play call but Henne would go with the play even if the throw was not there, leading to interceptions at critical points in the game.
 
wow!!! one of the easiest questions asked around here in a looong time!!!

howz about more td's than ints for a start. funny how 15 td's and 19 pics get the henne supporters so riled up when someone takes this to task. bewildering!! 15 td's and 19 pics going into his 3rd year is NOT progress and NOT fuel to bash on the henne critics. 15 td's does not a franchise qb make! thats pathetic, expecially with one of the top 3 wr's in the nfl on your team.

so far, more td's and a MUCH better td to int ratio is needed for a start. he needs to get his td's up in the 25 plus range with no more than 14-16 pics. and FOR GODS SAKE, GET IN TIME WITH BRIAN HARTLINE as he is
open 89% of the time!! no excuse for any of this with marshall, hartline and bess.

25 td's, 14 or less pics, and 3700-4000= yds will be sufficient. then i will start to believe and get in his corner. 2 years of those kind of numbers and we just may have something and a real chance if our defense stays stout!

Good luck with that dream of 25tds and 12 ints. The last 2yrs. Chad has put up 27tds and 33ints. My wish also is that he would gain a feel for the position, but that is a pipedream also.
 
the other thing that MUST improve for him is his simply HORRIBLE play in the redzone.

he was just about a sure bet to throw a pic, sail the ball or get sacked being scared to throw and holding on to the ball.

and teams noticed real quick how scared he and the coaches were of him throwing down there and they knew after while that we would be certain to run the ball within the 25 yd zone. made it a short game plan for defenses and cost us LOTS of td's but added to our kickers pro bowl reputation.

this HAS to stop, not only for us to win but to get fans believing in him. the stats i mentioned above PLUS cleaning up his redzone fears and mistakes are essential!!!
 
i think its very simple.

hes gotta stop staring down his receivers, start making plays, stop throwing ints, and win games for us.

Now obviously, even with the best qbs, hes going to throw ints, and im sure he will have a bad game here and their ( trying to be optimistic that its that rare) but he cant keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

also a trip to the playoffs this year wouldnt hurt.

the great thing from hennes perspective should be this. hes got a very solid o line, assuming long is healthy, hes got a top 5 wr in the league to work with, arguably the best slot wr in bess as his number 2, a newly aquired guy in reggie bush, who although listed as a running back, we all know his big plays come in the passing game more often than rushing game, and some potential surprise guys like gates.

However, the most important thing he has, although he does not get to use it specifically, yet it will help him win games, is he has a top 5 defense at his disposal. what that means chad, you dont need to go out every game and throw 350 yds and 4 tds to win, as long as you do not make to many mistakes, and make the plays when needed, he should be able to win games.

this is it, no excuses anymore, its do or die.
 
Last year I said 3000-3200yds, 20tds 10 ints, and eliminate his wtf moments. This year he needs those numbers, but more important he needs to step up and lead. His house is falling down around him, and before he loses the confidence of players he needs to step up. Take control of the huddle and the offense, to date all he does is jog to huddle from.sidelines, read his wrist band and break the huddle. He needs to rally his troops, get them fired up, and make the plays. Like many others have said when he gets in the redzone take shots, have the killer instinct! Don't call the run option put it up and let Marshall go get it. Most important learn the throws! To many times he isn't putting touch on the ball, soaring balls over heads, etc.
 
Some of you guys are full of it! No amount of stats would change your view of Henne and you know it.
