I just don’t get a lot of people’s thought process around here. “Let’s fast forward to the 2020 draft so we can finally get our QB.” As if us drafting a QB next year is a guarenteed home run. Are you not excited at who we have waiting in the wings? Personally, the trade for Josh was like a shot of adrenaline for me. I went from being down on this season as a result of low expectations to I can not wait to see this kid play.

So the 2020 NFL draft can wait. We’ve been searching for the guy since Marino, flirted with it in Tannehill; Why not Rosen? To those writing him off just want some insight as to why?

He’s 22 years old, a top 10 draft pick from a year ago, he has the skill set and regardless if you like him or not; you see the potential. He hasn’t even scratched the surface of what he could be. I don’t understand why so many people are writing this kid off without even giving him a chance. Best case scenario for us is Rosen is a baller and we get to allocate our draft capital and resources on building the team around him. Next season we’d be a threat.

So my question to all the Rosen detractors (or anybody who’d like to chime in) what do you think we would have to see from Rosen this year to hold off on using our 1st round pick on a QB? From a numbers stand point, W/L. Curious to hear these takes

Trying to be optimistic as Rosen has more zip on the ball than anyone since Marino. That said, I don't see how we get a true read on him or any QB this year with the current offensive line. The right side of the line may be the worst in the NFL. DeGuglielmo has the toughest job on the team IMO.

If he shows marked improvement over the season and able to show he belongs in the conversation of being a top 15 QB that’ll do me

Win more than 3 games? Throw more touchdowns than interceptions? Complete better than 55% of his passes? Throw for more than 160 yards a game? Have a QBrating better than 26?

Ya know, don't be top ten QB in interceptions, sacks, fumbles... generally don't suck.

Lets just say that if he plays well enough for this team to feel they don't need to draft a QB in the first round then we'd know. It has to be that clear imo that you won't have to think about it. If the FO/HC have to think about it then they need to draft a QB.

He has to at least look like there’s something there. If he looks completely lost, and there doesn’t seem to be much hope, take the QB.

But entering this upcoming offseason, with the cap space and the draft picks, we are in a great spot to add significant talent to this team, and build around Rosen

It's real simple for me. If the Dolphins end up with the 1st or 2nd pick in the upcoming draft and have a chance to draft a franchise QB, you do it without hesitation. You don't get many chances to draft a potential franchise QB.

Rosen is goina have to play like 84' Marino to keep us from drafting another top QB prospect in 2020 draft. But that was the beauty of trading for Rosen, it was a low risk move with only minimal invest where we could still draft another QB and have them battle it out. If there is any doubt about Rosen being a franchise QB (which as of right now I would say there is some doubt) then we have to find another QB and let them compete. We can't continue to be content with mediocrity at QB and we sure as hell can't afford to blow an opportunity to take advantage of what looks like a very good QB class and what looks to be a top pick in 2020.

Panthers drafted QB Jimmy Clausen in the 2nd round and the very next year drafted Cam Newton 1st overall. So a 2nd round pick invest is not hitching our wagon to Rosen as our future so yeah he's goina have to play like NFL MVP to keep us from drafting another QB. Thats the way I look at it and I hope the front office sees it the same way.

Great post and I respect that stance and opinion. Having two starting caliber, potential franchise QB’s on your team is a good problem to have. Eventually flip one should a QB desperate team come knocking. In order for this to even be a scenario Rosen is going to have to do work this season.

I don’t see Rosen balling out like 84 Marino; especially not with this line but we shall see. I’m not a big college guy; I know Tua is supposed to be the #1 guy coming out next draft. And I’ve heard the names Fromm, Herbert and Love tossed around. Are any of those guys projected to be a significant upgrade to Rosen? I know that’s a tough question to answer but if someone could shine some light

If we get 1st or 2nd pick you pick a quarterback,no brainer (1st or 2nd more than likely mean your quarterback sucks)

...But what if Miami miss the playoff by a game (which you know is the Miami way) and Rosen goes 7-1 in his last 8 games ?

Now you lean on your scouting department and Miami scouting department suck in the early rounds...

To me, this is easy, though most won't like it. He'll have to show Flo and staff he's the long term answer. That's it. We can argue what that is. We can argue how that decision will be made. BUT, no one knows the criteria Flo and staff will use. I doubt one criteria will be 'elite or gone.' One thing all of us know is there has to be progress throughout the season. That's it.

If miami is picking 1 or 2 you grab a qb and do not look back.

I know we haven’t gotten an extensive look at Rosen yet and I’m only asking because of your signature; do you think Tua would be a significant upgrade? How about Fromm, Herbert or Love
