What would you consider a "successful" season?

10+ wins is success, 8 is good, anything worse is pushing it. Heres why:

Last season, 9 of our 12 losses were by 10 points or less. We were much better than a less than 5 win team. I believe if we had just played it safe and kept it standard in situations, giving us time to recompose ourselves, seven, eight wins were inevitable.

Saban, clued with a better offense system (although new) will improve our strategies in large part. And the Free Agency speaks for itself.

I honestly believe that we can take out 5 or 6 teams with relative ease. Then we can reach, get some divisional steals, push our contendency because by week 8 there will be at least 5 "where did they come from" teams.

a minimum of 7 wins and if the young guys play well it should be considered a decent season

agree, that would be a decent season, sucessful to me for any team is ultimatley making the playoffs, but i will be happy with a 7 or 8 win season and will consider it succesful

If at the end of the season I have some hope or feeling that we are getting better and that Saban is indeed turning this thing around Ill consider the season a success. The wins and loses dont mean as much to me this year but we get around 6+ wins Ill be pretty happy.

This is exactly what I have been sayin... The sucess of our team shouldnt be based by wins this year, but by the development and the progression of our players. Even if it doesnt directly translate to wins and losses, if you can tell that this team is improving and moving in the right direction, as well as seeing promise out of our rookies and younger players... I will be extactic! 6 wins would be nice and if we win any more, it will be an added bonus:D

As far as THIS year goes. progress shouldn't be measured in wins & losses but rather by the way they are prepared to play each sunday and how they grasp the gameplan. I'm looking for energetic play on both sides of the ball, execution, and the mental approach of the players (tough minded, soft, or whatever the case may be). I want the playoffs just like every other fan, but this year is a stepping stone for better things to come.....

correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Patsies go 5-11 the year before they won their first superbowl?

If so, put me down for SUPERBOWL!!

7 or even 8 wins would make me very very happy because it will be hard just to get there...9 or more seems very unrealistic to me.

Well first of all as long as we win more than 6 or 7 games, it won't be a failure. But for me to consider this year a true success, we gotta make the playoffs.

I'd be pleased, regardless of how many wins we have, as long as our O-line shows improvement. I want us to play tough and underachieve our ability. Give the players a year to adjust to the new systems and guarantee ourselves a franchise QB in either Leinart or Jacobs.

I think DonShula84 is dead on. Forget the win-loss column for a moment, if our players start coming together at the end of the year (especially the young players) then I would label the season the success, even if we only win 4 or 5 games. We still have a lot of question marks this year, at QB, at DT, CB, C, LT, S and CB (although I think Poole will star in two years).
I think Saban drafts really well so we´ll be a force in a few years soon. The task at hand is getting the players to perform as a team.
