What would you do if........

You say it is just a game, but in an earlier post you referred to it as a job. When you have a job you have responsibilities and people depending on you. If you just walk away you can really hurt your coworkers and put the company in a bad position. This is the equivalent of walking away from your job without giving them 2 weeks notice where they can figure out how to replace you.

I guess my opinion would change drastically if it turned out that Martin was afraid for his life or something. But if he just decided it wasnt "making him happy" then I have a real problem with him just quitting and not giving the team a better chance to prepare for it. There are a ton of other players depending on him, along with an entire fanbase. The dependability aspect is the nature of the game, it comes along with being an NFL player, and thats something you are aware of when you take that NFL paycheck.

If I was being harassed by my co-workers and hated going to work everyday and nobody did anything to stop it, I would have no problem walking away with no notice.

you ran into Jonathon Martin on the street?

What a *****! I cant stand the distraction this has become for the Dolphins. We can't simply enjoy a tough win without some sort of negativity. When I first heard of this, I figured it would all just simmer down but it has blown up and continues to be blown up causing our Pro Bowl Guard to be suspended and possibly off the team for good. Fact is, Martin is soft as hell and realizes his NFL career is now over so he's going to try and get as much money from this as possible.

I seriously don't think Martin can show his face around Miami again. He's set to get bullied for the rest of his life around here...

Dude, c'mon.

The guy is a human first and a football player second.

Seems we forget at times.

Yeah I see your point. I guess it will depend on the facts as they come out. This will be really ugly if it turns out the coaching staff was aware of this and did nothing about it.

Guys, in light of understanding the situation better, and with the latest news on Richie taking it as far as threatening Martin's family, I can say I was wrong (partially--i still think he has no place in the NFL and could have handled this better) for putting this ALL on Martin while defending Incog.
I guess incog just has more value to the team and was upset at losing him

Hope we win MNF so this story can dwindle

I agree the idea is a human first and feel for the guy but to be honest I want a winning team and do not feel that he has exhibited behavior that will help us win in any form. So I would wish Martin luck on another team and adios to ritchie

Interesting that you would use actual violence to fight back against verbal attacks.
It was a joke. One aimed at someone who was siding with a bully. Get over yourself.

In the event you didn't understand it, it would hinge upon the irony of a person who supports bullying getting his ass kicked. Kind of karma-ish.

Funny, you come to his rescue. Would you do the same for Martin when he verbally attacks him?

Now do you care to tell me your views on bullying?

It would depend on what I knew about the situation. If these voicemails and texts are taken at face value. I would tell Martin to ignore it all. Nothing bothers these people more than that. If that fails and physical violence was going to happen then I would tell the HC about it. The other way of dealing with it is to fight back. Either way works. If you do not do either the bullying will increase.
Was MArtin the only one bullied? We need to know how others dealt with this crap.

so given all the new information and what we now know....

what would you do?

I would tell him that he could have handled the situation differently. Did he ever go to Philbin, Ireland, or the organization's legal counsel or equivalent of the team's HR? Doesn't sound like he did. He went along with everything until he learned he was being demoted, and then decided to screw the organization. He's a punk.

This goes a lot deeper than Martin, there are issues that are going to come up that we don't even know right now. I don't think you have a clue.

 You have no clue either...stop it already. There is a difference between hoping something happened, and what the truth could actually be.

EDit: Opps, sorry Green, did not notice you said this a couple of weeks ago.

None of us know what really happened. That's what I know after all that has come out.
