Ok, during last years draft if Miami didn;t pick Ronnie Brown, and took oh lets say....... Braylon Edwards, or traded down a bit and took Shawn Merriman, then this year Saban went out and got Steve Hutchinson, or one of the other high end FA O-linemen and Didn't get Culpepper but DID get Harrington and Lee Suggs.
My question is, would you rather have the current team of Culpepper, Harrington, Brown and Suggs, or.......Harrington as our starter Lee Suggs as our starting RB, Hutch on the O-line, and either Merriman at LB, or Edwards at WR???

Say whatever you want about me, but I'd still prefer our current team, not only do I like the starting/playmaking potential better, but we have DEPTH, something we would not have with option #2.

I'm sticking with what we have. Keepin' the faith, believing in what Saban is building.

I'd rather the guys we have now just win all the rest of our games. I mean if we are going to just sit around and make wishes and play "what if" then lets make it short and sweet. What if Saban could tell the future.... then making his picks would be easy. This thread should be in the fantasy section IMO.

I'm happy with Suggs as a #2, but there's no way I'd want him as a starter. The guy gets injured too often.

Hutchinson plays on the left side of the line, and our most glaring problems on the offensive line are on the right side, so no need for him.

Revisionist history is great.

How about this, remain patient and realize that Nick Saban is building for the longterm.

Nick Saban DID try and trade down in 2005. You can't just say "what if we traded down a bit and took Merriman". You need a partner to make a trade.

Who would have run the football for us in 2005 if we did not take Ronnie? Remember, Ricky was retired and not showing interest in playing again at draft time and we had NOTHING at running back. A year of Sammy Morris is what Saban was looking at if he had passed on Ronnie.

Lee Suggs as our starter? :sidelol::sidelol::sidelol: The guy has personal issues and was CUT by the Browns. There is a reason they tried to trade the guy once and then just cut him. Suggs wouldn't be on this team is Morris hadn't gotten suspended.

Personally i would have rather traded up and gotten Peyton Manning, LT, Chad Johnson, Johnathan Ogden, Julius Peppers, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Johnathan Vilma, Marvin Harrisson and Will Shields in their respective drafts

Qb Is The Most Important Position On The Field, when You Can Get The Kind Of Talent Culpepper Has You Have To Take It

based on our needs, ronnie brown was the right pick. That draft was weak at the top and no one's looking to move up much because of the rookie salaries. Saban's doing the best he can: although a little obsessed with defensive lineman and most of the picks made sense, we just haven't had a lot of picks to begin with and for whatever reason, most of the picks haven't panned out.

I think Sabn like feast or famine type picks and in the later rounds that;s not a bad strategy.

I was actually a fan of skipping out on all of the Culpepper/Brees tomfoolery and bringing in McNair or keeping Gus and drafting a true QB of the future (Cutler???). After the trade I wanted an in order of perference and LB (to beat out Spragan), an OL (tackle, guard or center) a DB (CB then safety) or a WR (sexy pick) in this past draft. I was not thinking deep playoff run for Miami in 2006 but Culpepper and the media hype got me to bnite and so far I'm dissapointed.
