I doubt any of the blame is on the family. what do they know about a lockeroom. The family seems to be supporting the son as most familes would.
These are well educated people to which the NFL culture is probably totally foreign and people using the n word back in forth and threatening family is probably not common place to them even in joking.
What makes you so sure and certain none of this falls on the families shoulders? You can't rule out the possibility. Being well educated doesn't make them blind to this, their son has prob been playing football since he was kid, and if you think none of this happened in peewee league, high school, or college ball, that's just ignorant. This doesn't just happen in the NFL.
