Some team trades up with Lions to get Tua. This prompts the Chargers to make a small trade with the Giants to secure Herbert. I doubt this will happen, but a good front office would have a plan in place just in case something like this happened. What would you do if you were Greer - Flores? What would your 1st round look like?

Well... that would mean that 3 QBs and Young would be off the board before we picked... meaning that any other team that wanted Okudah, or Thomas, or any of the others might see an opportunity to get a player they had not expected to be able to get.

I'd listen to trade offers... and then try to find someone who was willing to overpay.

Take BPA either Okudah or Simmons...maybe the top OT. Not exactly sure who the top Tackle will be but we should consider that position hard at 5 because at 18 I bet your looking at the 5th OT by then.

I was just thinking about this exact scenario...If it did happen, I would try to trade out if I could for extra picks. If not possible, Isaiah Simmons seems like a perfect chess piece or Okudah(if we didn't nab a CB in FA)
The word on the street though is that Gettleman of NYG does not trade back. That is what I am counting on.
I know that a lot of people think Rosen sucks, but there may even be a plan to give him one more year and build up a team around him. If that's the case, Miami would have the last laugh at all these teams thinking they were actually tanking for a QB. Because, seriously, Herbert and Tua are sadly not ideal prospects at this point. So if another team wants to give up picks to go get them, well, buyer beware.
They're definitely good, but...injuries and inconsistency are dangerous red flags.

We don't know how much the Fins like Tua or Herbert. IF they love one or the other they would certainly be able to beat any offer and secure one of them.

IF they sat there and watched QB's go 1,3,4 then either they did not really want either or they are wildly incompetent.

Going with your scenario my first instinct would be to find someone who had to have Okudah or Simmons or the top OL/DL and trade back a bit.

Forced to pick I would grab Derrick Brown or Kinlaw and build a fearsome DL like SF has done.

I expect several FA OL moves so I wold not want to use the #5 pick on OL

Hopefully trading back for another 1 in 2021 and still landing Simmons. I’ve said it before, I don’t care if this happens or not.

Pretty much what the others have said.....I'd not draft any other QB in the first round tho. If we can't find a team to m=trade down with then Simmons and Okudah are options but we could have any WR we want at that spot and while WR is not our biggest need it could be great value to get the top WR. Not what I'd do tho......I think Simmons would be my pick and then at 18 and 26 oline and maybe WR then.

Another way to go would be to take the top OT at 5 and then go Edge at 18(Epenesa maybe) and then at 26 go WR or maybe the top RB

I'd be looking at CB Okudah and OT's Thomas and Wills at #5, Fromm at #18 (which most here will hate) and see if an OT like Becton or Austin Jackson is available at #26. I'd prefer Herbert at #5 but I'd still like to walk away from rd 1 with a QB and 2 OTs.

It's a great question. If both Tua and Herbert are gone, I'd go with Simmons at #5. Look at the super bowl. The 49ers and Chiefs have the two best tight end in the game. Matching up against those guys are difficult. Simmons could be that type of player and the perfect chess piece for Flores's defense.

I think the team needs to take an offensive lineman with one of their other first round picks.

I think I'd go Fromm with that final first. Maybe Love if he makes it to #18.

If the QB they covet (hopefully Tua over Herbert and Love) doesn‘t fall to 5, your scenario is exactly what I’m hoping for. Sit tight at 5, see what happens in front of them then take BPA at five or possibly trade back a few spots (no further than say, 12) and collect some extra picks if there’s a willing trade partner.

If that scenario landed them Isaiah Simmons and an extra 1st or 2nd in 2021, I’d be thrilled.

Slit wrists for allowing it to happen

be my first inclination

Crazy talk. None of the QB’s outside of a healthy Tua are a must have. None of them. And this isn’t the only draft in history for Dolphins to take one. There will always be other opportunities.

But to trade a bunch of hard to come by assets just to move up 1 or 2 positions?? For a total question mark???

That‘s a scenario more fitting for slitting wrists. It’s a total panic move.

Anthony Gordon QB, Tee Higgins WR, Lloyd Cushenberry C
or
Anthony Gordon QB, Edwards Helaire RB, Lloyd Cushenberry C

What you call a panic move I call balls dropping.

if the medicals a green light and someone jumps in front of us for tua I hope heads roll for it.

Miami always seems to outdo itself for incompetence so I’m sure it’s on the table
