Was just thinking which one of those WRs on the bubble just made the 53 now that Chad is gone? Im thinking Gates was going to get cut but now might stick around and be our 5th or 6th guy at WR. Im thinking its going to be Nanne, Hartline, Bess, Wallace, Gates and matthews ( cuz he has showen alittle SP talent). BJ and Pruitt on the PS.

Follow up question.... Which team, if any, do you think will take a shot at signing 85 now or is he done for good??

he's done...finished...end of story...miami was the only one willing to bring the circus to town...the rest of the league knows better

good luck with your reality tv show chad...i hear those do wonders for marriages

I think Pruitt makes the 53, especially if he has more games like he on Friday. I think cutting CJ opens a spot for Gates, BJ or Matthews. I am hoping Gates steps up and he is the guy who benefits.

I don't look at it from the bottom up, the other way around is clearer IMO.

It's not about the roster spot, but about the reps and plays played. I think Wallace benefits the most because he will get on the field more, he'll get more reps with the #1's now that Dirk Diggler is back on the streets.

There are wr's on our team right now that could have had much better years last year if the MO around here was not to force the ball Marshall's way most of the time.

I like pruitt a lot...I would love to see him get some work with the ones. I think he or Wallace will surprise in the regular season this year...hartline needs to get back ASAP though

as for the wr core fellas we are in trouble there...it is what it is...this o will help hide some of these guys deficiencies but with or without chad johnson this wr core was gonna struggle...expect a lot of the te's and backs used in the passing game...

as for the wrs that we have matthews is a tough read for me he's being used as a primary returner but i have to think that when thigpen comes back that may be his role and in looking at the first preseason game other than specials return matthews had no run as a wr despite us having 4 wrs on the field at times in the 2 deep rotation...i don't know if they view him as the lead candidate to be a return weapon and thus they haven't given him snaps at wr in the game or if he just hasn't shown enough as a wr to break in...

i do know that cunningham watching him he lacks burst and explosion not very quick twitch i think him and fuller are earmarked for the p squad...i can't see them carrying either of them in the 53 this year...

i would like to see wallace run with the ones to see if he could get separation from the DBs in this league. He has looked good but has only really played with 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] team guys. Hope he gets the start this week. And Gates need to step up big too.
The one thing that really scares me is that im not sure if we have anybody with some serious YAC ability at WR! Bess is a quick guy but not a 60 yard playmaker. Not sure if wallace has the speed to do it either. Gates has the speed but is soft and cant get on the field. We have a few RBs that can go the distance but no WR's

I'd say Wallace is now a lock to make the 53. Depending whether we want 5 or 6 it'll be between Pruitt Matthews and Moore.

i honestly don't think anyone not named davon bess should be a lock right now...

Good points and I agree. Marshall really didn't have a great year last year so I don't know if we are losing as much as people think. I am concerned with lack of experience at wide receiver, no doubt, but I'm also happy to see some young guys get a chance.

Remember when saying a guy is a lock that Ireland has a history of tinkering with the final roster by picking up a few guys at waiver time during final cuts. I expect a wr on the roster that isn't currently on it.

I think it's the running backs as well. Bush will likely see a lot of passes thrown his way.

I think the group we have can move the ball between the 20 s..but I have concern who will make the td plays in the red zone. I think Wallace is noww our most dynamic wr...and Pruitt benefits from 85 s departure.

Mathews benefits. One less WR ahead of him coupled with his potential return ability betters his chance at making the roster.

Roberto Wallace...if he continues to play the way he did a couple nights ago. Heck all the receivers should make the most of this opportunity and try to step up their level of play.
