It's an interesting predicament we are in with the Harrington-Culpepper situation but in the end it's a good thing to be arguing over which QB is better than which is worse. So in light of that, all the negatives aside. Culpepper is obviously more physically gifted than Harrington, Harrington is obviously more mentally gifted than Culpepper.

I would say the 2 most intelligent QB's in the NFL are Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. I would say the 2 most physically gifted QB's in the league are Michael Vick and Vince Young.

Which one would you rather see at QB? Michael Vick and Vince Young are more exciting to watch than Manning and Brady without a doubt however Brady and Manning put more wins on the board.

Which would you prefer to have leading your team, A Peyton or Brady, or a Vick or Young?

It's better to have both...smarts and physical talent...like Dan Marino...Peyton Manning a close 2nd.

Yeah, Danny undoubtedly had football smarts, but Peyton is genuinely an intelligent dude. Danny had a better arm, but Peyton has the best of both worlds.....

IMO mentally gifted is more important assuming a base level of athletic ability. I disagree with you that JH is more mentally gifted though. I find that JH's decisons are atrocious far to often and that he throws to his primary receiver or the check down without going through his progressions. While I don't think DC is great at reading defenses he has been much better at this throughout his college and NFL career than JH has.

I'll take mental any day.

Confidence rocks the world.

I played four years of HS football, and, one of JUCO....

the most inspireing adress I ever heard was in the MIAC (US Army Maryland Flag Football Leuge.) *Don't ask me why they called it MIAC*....

We were down 21 points and, DESTROYING each other on the sideline. The
QB stood off, by himself. He didn't look distressed, but, he faced us. Right before we were called back, he spun around and, was like...

"ARE YOU GUYS ABOUT DONE CRYING?!"

We were all like...

He sauntered in, and, said..."Look...here's our plan; I'm going to throw the ball, and, somone's going to catch it. We'll score a TD, then, we'll stop them. Then, we'll score another TD!.....

He stopped....

"That's when we take thier heart...." He said it.....So low, so signifigant....

"Then we do what we have to do to win!"

After we scored that first TD......Wow...All of us were wild eyed. It was
like we had a propfet at QB.

That' why I go mental in this choice, every time....It makes the whole team better.

Dan was never great at post snap reads. He was good pre-snap though. If the D changed right at the snap he often struggled. That's what NE did regularly and what SF did in the SB against him. I would use Dan as one of the few examples of a guy who was such a good passer that he would complete the pass even when he made the wrong read.

Oh...Vick can go suck eggs.

He's a one trick poney that has been exposed in the NFL.

Great talent....but, noone really fears his arm.

Plus, he'll get hurt, reliaby, for at least a few games/season.

As much as I love Marino, he was no where near as intelligent as Manning.

You can make up for physical talent by being smart, but you can't make up for dumbness by being physically gifted.

i find it interesting that u kno mike vick and vince young are less mentally gifted than manning and brady. im not saying your racist but there is a slight hidden racsim in sports that say the black athlete is dumb but athletic and the white athlete is smart but a bad athlete.

Mentally gifted gets you out of more bad situations than physically gifted will, in my observation. Anyone who says they'd rather have anyone over Peyton Manning is a liar, the guy is the Best of Both of these. Vick is a bust in my eyes, at least based on expectations, and I don't think Vince Young will have a great career.

You know when I was thinking of QB's for this comparison, race had not even occured to me. Thank you for pointing it out as apparently I did not take that into consideration when discerning the differing abilities of QB's currently in the league.

I don't think it has any relevance to the discussion at hand, but you are correct I failed to account for race in my evaluation.
