I know JO isn't a current Dolphin, but hear me out. He was one of my favorite players when he played here, and it's really surprising to see his career suddenly lose course.

After doing a little reading, his situation in Jacksonville ended pretty poorly. It seemed like he was happy to get released (judging by this photo with the caption "this is me getting released by the Jaguars")

Then he filed a $5.5M grievance against the Jaguars, who released him with the claim that he voided his guaranteed money when he refused to get regular checkups during injury rehab.

Then he went on visits with Miami and New England, but neither team signed him and there's been hardly a peep around the league about teams being interested in him.

There was a report out there that his non-football related interests caused some issues within the building in Jacksonville.

The above article goes into some details about JO's view on football and his...strange personality.

“Team sports take away individuality,” Odrick muses as the cab rolls along. “That’s my lead-up to why I’m here in Toronto. I’m doing my own thing, and people think it is so weird when I go back.”

“People get blinded by the religion of football,” Odrick says. “Players, coaches, fans. But the best way to stay in the business is to keep your personal business running, and the best way to do that is to break some molds. Seek out knowledge on your own. Have individual thoughts. Be a little counter-culture.”

He had some other interesting views (goes more political than is needed on this forum) but you can read the article to see more.

Curious about why he hasn't signed, I went to see if he was active on social media and he's been sharing captions of brain neurotransmitters like GABA and L-tryptophan. And then this photo with the caption "I too was once drafted, first round actually. Now look at my life. I eat brussel sprouts out of cardboard boxes in row 17c, the back of the plane. Life comes at you fast kids."

I'm kind of getting the Ricky Williams vibe that he's now in a period of rediscovery after football. It's just strange to see him go from a solid NFL contributor to, for lack of a better word, outcast.

He also spoke up about how the nfl should let cbd and thc usage allowed so....

Very cool article - really enjoyed reading it. Sounds like an intelligent guy - and if he's in good shape, yes I'm surprised no one has signed him yet.

Interesting viewpoint on Julius Thomas

I'm shocked Odrick finally got off vacation to get the physical. Feels like he's always somewhere different based on his Instagram. Just like Julius Thomas I've always questioned how much he loves the game of football.

..He made many bone headed plays, and was a cancer imo... Very happy with this release!

Meh.....little impact this year and that's a lot of money saved.

No big loss. Didn't do much

That was a very interesting read. Thanks for sharing. Weird is relative though. I didn't see anything "weird" in what I read. He's always come across as a very introspective, intelligent guy.

Relative to where he was drafted and especially vs other options he was a disappointment but IMO he was far from a slug and if anyone during that contentious time was a team cancer it was Philbin.

He made a few appearances on tv shows like ballers as well. I think once he got paid he got comfortable. He sees the longterm health issues with playing a long career and Is enjoying his life.

Good post. Yeah i definitely get "marches to his own drummer vibe" from Odrick which is one of the reasons i liked him...even his locker room interviews were interesting.

When you have a pending grievance against another team, that can't look good for potential new employers.

Seems very odd... He's probably damaged goods. He seems like the perfect New England bargain and they didn't sign him up.

Claims that he was a cancer yet provides nothing to support the claim...don't really get how you can call him a cancer. What did he do in detriment to the team?

I wouldn't touch him...clearly wouldn't be playing with his heart and by his own admission...not a team player.

He wasn't good enough to overlook his attitude.

They probably hate that he's not an NFL robot and that they lost a lot while making "all that money that he doesn't deserve." The usual stupid fan bullshit.
