Anyone know what's going on? Did we apply an original round tender like we should and I missed it? When's the deadline?

Have not tendered him yet... deadline is 4pm Thursday....

We will probably extend him or slap the tender on him.

I think we'll keep him, he's already loved by the Cuban community down here and I think his presence lifted their spirits after Jose Fernandez died.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't Kiko's original tender only net us a 2nd rounder? I might be in the minority but if Alonso gets traded for a 2nd after only one year with us, I would be irate.

While that might be fair value, I don't want to start over with the linebackers again. Don't not be cheap asses and try to save money. Give him the 1st round tender and use the 3.9mil salary as a start to negotiations.

I don't see us signing a quality LB for much less and with our past at the position group, I refuse to risk him getting taken!

I think they end up extending him, but a second rounder for Kiko wouldn't be a bad haul. He's a good linebacker, but in no way worthy of a first rounder.

nobody is giving up a 2nd for a LB who cant stay healthy. Tender kiko

Bingo. They'll give him the low tender of $1.8M and that will shut down any and all interest from other teams.

Slap the tender on him. Don't be stupid and extend him until he proves he can stay healthy and be consistent. If some dumb team wants to dish out a second for him I'd take it and run. I like Kiko, but this is a good draft at OLB.

Can't see anyone giving up a high pick for him so his low tender should net him for another season.

It seems they would have tendered him unless they are getting close to a long term extension.

What is the rush? We havent tendered anyone yet, you can do it at the last min if you really want

I was inferring that they could be close to an extension and that's the reason he wasn't tendered. Didn't realize I was in a rush.

The Dolphins are hoping to work out a multi-year extension with LB Kiko Alonso rather than tender him as an RFA, sources say. Early stages.

Fairly big update - and I would hate it

Re-signing Alonso to a long term deal is a stupid move. This is going to bite them in the butt. They did the same thing with an injury prone Center who couldn't stay on the field and now we're stuck with that bloated contract. Sign him to a one year tender and make him prove he can play a full season, buy yourself some time to draft his replacement.

This is why this teams linebacking corp sucks. Front office doesn't have a clue.

Really like this move....waiting a year will bite us in the backside as he has an even better season with more consistency around him.
