What’s going on with Miami Dolphins RT Vernon Carey?

He is definately being asked to restructure. Which I dont object to. Problem is they are now squeezing him. The reason its taking so long is that these morons are using Columbo as leverage and likely asking Carey to take much much less than he wants to or should. Just watch. These morons will not hesitate to go with that turnstile Cowboys reject at RT if Carey dosent take a much larger pay cut than he should.

Are you kidding me? If they're honestly trying to use Columbo as leverage, I think that works better for Carey. All he has to do is show them a few tapes of Dallas last season

Basically, is a Carey for Orton trade worth it to you guys? If you can get a 3rd for Carey, and need a 3rd to trade for Orton, and they have similar cap hits without Carey restructuring, it's an even trade.

What it comes down to is who's more important for your season? Orton or Carey?

Do you think Orton is a super bowl caliber QB? Do you think he's a playoff caliber QB? Did Denver not have the #6 defense the last year Mike Nolan was there and all they could muster was an 8-8 record?

I don't see Orton as the solution and certainly not worth trading any picks or players for. If we get Orton and trade Carey how long do you think Orton will last getting blasted by 3-4 linebackers in our division taking free shots. Of course that would be everyone's built in excuse that wants Orton. The O-line can't block and give him 2 seconds to throw...I can read it now.

Dang, I posted nearly the same exact thing in another thread. I agree 100%.

Well, it's not your call or my call regardless of what we might want to happen. It comes down to what they feel they need to do to win and save their jobs versus how much worse they feel the O-line will be without Carey (and what they can do to alleviate that). Just putting myself in their shoes, the no-brainer is Orton over Carey. Again, that's not necessarily what I'd want to happen.

a 4th round pick would be outstanding. i can't see any way in the world he'd bring a 3rd.
Why would we want to give up our starting RT for a 4th round pick? Do you realize the value in a 4th round pick? Have you even stopped to think about the kinds of players who the clowns currently running our team typically would get for a 4th round pick? After that, think about the fact that Columbo would be starting in Carey's place.

Jesus Christ. Guys dont want to give a 3rd for a legit starting QB, but will be quick to come off our starting RT for a 4th. Unbelievable.

Problem is, these morons dont know what they are looking at when they watch film. Im sure they watched tape on Matt Ryan before that draft.

I'd like to know what kind of shape Vernon Carey showed up in to camp... I think they were already looking for a reason to do something in regards to Carey and the inflated contract they signed him to... and he may have given them one...

I agree, I'm all for saving money but not at the expense of putting a lesser player on the field. Sparano will ruin our offensive line again this year, just wait.
