It may well depend, maybe (?), on how good/bad he plays in the preseason. I have no clue. I lean on him not being a Fin this year but I can't say why. A trade can be the true answer. Who's to say really.

I'm torn about this discussion.

On the one hand, i agree with Chubby that Parcells and co. are too big headed to admit when they're wrong and would likely keep him on the team regardless of the fact that he probably shouldn't deserve to make a 60 man roster.

At the same time though, you have to remember that if he does indeed make the 53 man roster, he'll likely be penciled in as the 2nd QB on the roster (due to his ability to run the WC) < Not saying that he's good at it or anything, just saying that the WC is the only reason why he would still be on the roster.

Therefore, in that scenario you're bumping Pennington down to 3rd string QB - thus emergency. I think that's a bigtime slap in his face.

As much as i think it will pain Ireland/Parcells to admit they were wrong, my gut feeling is that they cut him. At least that's what i'm hoping anyway - never liked the pick - in fact i despised it.

Unless we get an excellent offer for Thigpen, we will try to trade him for a late rd pick, but I don't think we get one. He will most likey be cut. Too many close battles and injuries at positions like OL, CB, and LB for us to have the luxery of keeping 4 QBs.

This goes back to a post I made a while back... You don't designate a roster spot for a player to run the Wildcat package... especially one that's: A.) Not any good at it.. B.)Doesn't run the Wildcat in the first place..

You have to EARN your roster spot at a position FIRST... then you find creative ways to use that players skillsets in non-conventional package... not vice versa..

It sends the wrong message to the team... roster spots and depth are too valuable in the NFL to throw even one of them away in favor of a player that hasn't even come close to earning it...

Sparano and Ireland have a theory about the "right 53" as opposed the "best 53"... and Pat White qualifies as neither..

This brings me to a question I thought of yesterday at practice. I havent seen Pat White in any Wild Cat packages at any of the 3 practices I have been to. I also haven't heard any reports from our Twitter guys. Wonder if there is a specific reason why.

We allready have the rich mans Pat White in Brad Smith.

Brad Smith is waaaaaaaaaaay better than Pat White.. There really isnt any comparison.. That should tell you how bad Pat White is :hump:

I think Thigpen will be traded/cut when it comes down to it. White was a 2nd rd pick and they cant give up on him after just 1 season. The only way I see them cutting White is if Thigpen tears it up these next few games and we will no longer be attempting to run the wildcat. I think Thigpen is on display so he can be traded.....

If Thigpen tears it up, what bearing would that have on why we wouldnt run the wildcat? Thigpen is mobil, IMO he could run the wildcat as much or better than White. Actually, he would be more a of threat in the wildcat than white, because with white there is NO threat of a pass, with Thigpen, there is a threat of both the run and the pass.

:sidelol:

And after we cut Tyler we can cut Bess. Wow, just wow. If I am sure of ANYTHING about this team's final roster after cuts, it is that Thigpen will be a dolphin. No way on earth we go into the season with just Pennington, who is still getting over his injury, as the only gametime QB.
Tyler is maybe the best backup in the league. He could start for several teams out there, like Cleveland or even the panthers. Thigpen is going no where....PERIOD!!!
