Our 1st team beat up on J-ville's starters.

Our 2nd team held their own against J-ville's starters.

Our 3rd team looked bad against them on 4 plays.

We're deep and comfy at QB, RB, WR, DL, & LB.

Starting OL needs a little more Houk seasoning

DB's need more Sabanizing.

IMHO We are looking like we are going to be an Elite team this year.

I didn't get to see the game, but I kept up with play by play on NFL.com and was thinking the same thing. Our second string held up with the Jags starters which is a very good thing. I think that any time that we have to reach down into our third stringers we are in a lot of trouble any way.

Ditto on the "Sabanization" of the secondary but another factor was the pass rush. Three TD passes of 50 yards or more by 3 different QBs means they had lots of time to throw.....not good (early or not). But also I would like to add the kicking game to this forum as an obvious worry. Will Mare ever be able to kick from the baseball in field at Dolphin Stadium?? That is the question I pose. In addtion, Mare's backup missed one under 50 yards followed by T.Johnson committing a penalty that put us out of field goal range on a fourth kick. That's 3 out of 4 blown field goal opportunites which would have won the game.....you do the math. So, I think the kicking game needs "Sabanization" as well.

I agree with your assesment.

We came out on fire and shutting down the Jags. They couldn't do anything. We also have to take into consideration the vanilla playcalling. Nevertheless, the starters showed glimpses that they are ready to go.

Actually, lot's of pressure, but he always escaped and threw deep, except on a play we're literally noone cover Maurice Drew who made a 5 yard catch and ran 50. Poor tackling.

I'd say our pass rush missed JT.

Really deep on the offense, the secondary will come together.

In my VERY humble opinion based on being a football fan for several years now, there is no need to get to deep about anything that happened in the jags game. The first game always seems to simply serve the purpose of getting the cobwebs out for the starters and to get a look at how the rookies adjust to the "show". We don't dig deep into our play calling book or seem to really game plan too much at all. The mentallity is to get the guys out there and see where we need to focus the practices. A sort of fine tuning if you will. Preseason does not determine the outcome of the rest of the season. I seem to remember the years that we did bad in preseason ended up being good years for us. Imparticular, one year with Dan the man that we lost all preseason games and then started the season 7-0. I am not a pro football coach, nor do I claim to be an expert at football strategies but even the coaching staff appeared to be very calm and not worried about anything that happened. The great news is that we got a look at the physical tools of some guys that we were uncertain about and they impressed. The mental errors will be fixed over the next weeks leading to the regular season. That's the purpose of preseason.
