What's our record today if Keller, Patterson, and Gibson started in 16 Games in 2013?

Having Keller definitely would have helped the oline out some. Having a TE threat like Clay and Keller would have made it hard to blitz on us and gave Tannehill a seem threat. I think we win 2 more games with a healthy Keller alone. I'll say 9-7

Way to qualify the question there bud.

just saying no team is injury free in the nfl.
NE lost their starting Te, starting inside LB starting tackle, starting dt all pro bowlers and they still got it done

I'll put it this way, if Keller would have been what we hoped he would be he would have been huge. None of really knows if he would have lived up to our hopes and dreams, just look at Wallace, but typically, even when good QBs lose their safety blanket at TE they can go from looking great to pedestrian (Brady?). I don't know if Keller would have made the difference in a few of those close games or not but I think Tannehill would have had another 4-500 yards and 3 or 4 more TDs with Hartline, Gibson, Keller and Clay all healthy and in the lineup all 16 games.

With all of those guys and two good tackles we probably had a 14-2 or 13-3 team. With just 2 average tackles we're in the playoffs right now even without Keller and co.

I don't think Tannehill is functioning anywhere near the level required for that, and I don't think the addition of anything in the way of his supporting cast would've changed that to the tune of a 14-2 or 13-3 record. There is no change that could be made to his supporting cast that could get his play to jump that high in my opinion.

As it is right now, the defense kept the team in playoff contention despite the inadequacies on offense, most notably those of Tannehill and the offensive line.

Same. Every team has to deal with injuries. In the grand scheme of things ours were pretty minor.

I was most bummed about Gibson, he was really turning into quite the possession receiver. Patterson just teases you, plays great but just can't stay healthy...

I don't understand why they don't simply PASS the ball to Egnew and the TE they drafted this year.

Egnew was a PASS CATCHING TE In college NOT a blocking TE. He showed that he could get open and catch but they almost never threw to him.

The OC really has to take the brunt of the blame. And as for those game winning locker room speeches...

Tony made much better speeches, you have to be honest with yourselves. It isn't even close. It's hard not to cringe and look for players laughing in the back ground in those clips

Hypothetically, with 2 good tackles like a Brandon Albert on the left side and a probowl level Clabo on the right side that alone opens up the running game more and gives Tannehill more time. A healthy Keller, Gibson combined with Clay would become a much bigger factor with Tannehill getting even a fraction more time, which further slows down the defenses ability to rush the passer and opens the running game even more. With that said I think Baltimore and Buffalo go from losses to wins. We would have been 6-2 at the midway point and would have avoided bully-gate so Tampa likely goes from a L to a W, we probably get it done vs Carolina too with a much better offense so we could have been 12-2 easy going in to week 16. I know every team suffers injuries and bully-gates and they could all make the same arguments but I think Tannehill played well enough to get us to 12-4 and Philbin coached well enough to get us to 13-3 if we just had a little luck in addressing the tackle position and a healthy Dustin Keller.

Tannehill is in his second year and will only get better, even if he cost us a game or two we still should have made the playoffs easily. Philbin is instilling a system and needs more than 2 years to make the complete transformation. Even with that, Ireland dropped the ball in getting us an easy one or two wins and cost us playoffs at the very least.

What really pisses me off is thinking about what could have been had we gotten to 12-2, the Miami Dolphins, Joe Philbin, Ryan Tannehill and even Ireland himself would have been the talk of the NFL. Now, thanks to Ireland, Philbin and Tannehill are getting bashed by a bunch of clueless fans and media, just like I predicted would happen last September. The absolute worst is Philbin is on the hot seat unnecessarily and we may fire what could be a really good coach, if that happens we'll deserve the 20 or 30 more years of poetic justice coming our way.

The Pats were hurt way more and had much better players than us go down, so I would say you can chalk that Pats win to another loss.

We most definitely would have been 10-6.

Keller takes any 8th or 9th guy at LOS away. Clay is a keeper, but he is a diverse FB/TE type.

Gibson was on fire although he was having key drops, but that doesnt mean anything if you turn around and make a huge play for TD.

But the guy who could have helped even more was Binns who was ready to be the #4 guy.

Any assessment made as of now though cannot be full unless you consider Martin/Incognito. That right there was more damage to throw wrench into the whole thing. Too many abrupt changes to Oline, some for better, but nonetheless not ideal for successful season overall.

In my humble opinion you're looking at this in reverse of how you should be. An adequate quarterback in this league is what mitigates actual or potential deficiencies or unexpected pitfalls (i.e., Martin/Incognito) with regard to all of those other variables you're talking about. That's the efficient and predictable approach to winning, not trying to mitigate an inadequate (at this point) quarterback with a great number of other variables.
