All week we have heard two key terms from coach Sparano and the players........"opportunity" and "at stake".
Everyone knows whats up. This is much larger than a playoff game actually. This is about TITLES!!! A Division CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!
Face it. A simple wildcard birth is nothing more than a shot at the world title. If you dont go on to win a conference championship, no one really gives a **** about wildcards. It just means you played in the tournament.
However, this is so much larger. This is the opportunity to claim a DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP!!! Thats something that can never be taken from this team. In 2008 the Miami Dolphins will be DIVISION CHAMPIONS FOREVER with a victory today. Thats what is at stake. Thats the opportunity.
And it would be a huge step for this organization to accomplish. It would be the first step to the final step....a WORLD Championship.
Now, even if we take that first step today, by no means does it make it absolute that we take the next step next year, or even the year after. But, its a necessary experience on the road to a world title. The team needs this. This win gives us experience winning a championship albiet a division and not a world one. It also would give us playoff experience in the next week and hopefully longer.
This game is LARGER than a playoff game at this stage.
