What's the deal with Surtain?

Darn, I really hope Surtain is ok and can play this week. Also, looks like Minor is out and Morris might not play. So, who would be Gordon's backup on Sunday Night?

From what i heard from on wqam, i think it was Big O today. That Surtain will be ready to play sunday.

Thats great news! Thanks for the update. Also, to answer my early question I just re-read the article and it says they might promote Henry from the PS for this game to be the backup for Gordon.
 
here is my prediction. Surtain has a degenerative knee and it affects him as the games go on. Did anyone see him in preseason? I think the management is keeping this in house as best as possible. I saw surtain on the sidelines and he was trying to deal with the leg by flexing his knee back. I think this is a serious condition that will surely catch up to him. hate to be the bringer of bada news. There has been articles saying dont be surprised if Surtain is not here next year and Madison stays. Well why would you think that? im tellin ya, there is something more serious going on here. If you hear a simple leg injury in the report, i say its his knee. If they are more specific then maybe indeed he has a different injury but i still say surtain is in the long run having probs.
 
^i really really hope not... and if he doesn't play thats not gonna be a good thing with johnson and warrick two speedy WRs for cincy, we need him in this game...

They said Morris would probably be listed as questionable and they would probably move Henry from the developmental squad before the game.

The Dolphins also may promote running back Leonard Henry from the developmental squad before the Bengals game.

Tailback Travis Minor isn't expected to play because of an ankle injury, while backup Sammy Morris (ankle) will likely be listed as questionable.

Lamar Gordon, who was acquired Thursday in a trade with St. Louis, is expected to make his first Dolphins start.

He probably is just on the on side kick special teams because they use a lot of "hands" guys on those units and he fits that mold.
 
Crap...Surtain is doubtful...wtf...we need him...especially this game!!!

I was going to type something similar when I read this thread's title.

I am not going to hold Surtain any higher than any other Dolphin I may comment on that is of lesser talent...and with that...I have to start to look at Surtain and his injuries more objectively. With that...they are becoming a problem, this is the 3rd year in 4 so far he is having problems, and it's just the beginning of the season!

I think there is a reason he hasn't gotten that extension, and it's obvious this is it. I love Pat and what he has done for us, but I think this needs to be monitored the rest of the season and if it doesn't look even a wee bit optimistic after this season....we look to move him or just have him finish the remaining year on his contract and let him go.

We signed Howard to big money for a reason...to replace Sam or Pat obviously. Will Poole was drafted for a reason beside being a steal at that spot. I think the handwriting is on the wall fellas.
 
Some reports say leg, some say groin, then you here of the bad knee. First and Foremost, if he had a bad knee, he would not be playing in the NFL. Second, in the NFL, you are not allowed to keep anything "IN HOUSE", especially in the NFL. He had a groin injury in the Preseason. The new rule, based around the Patriots, you have to be honest with your injury report. PS, the fastest DB we have is Reggie Howard, so I look at him to be lining up against Warrick, Madison on Johnson.
 
PS, if we can trade pat, hypothetically. I would love to have 2 firsts next year, and somehow get Antrelle Rolle, I know he is top 10, but this guy is another Taylor out of UM, though a Cornerback Version. I don't think Reggie Howard is a shut down corner, like our top two, just by looking at him and his size.

Excellent Post COC...I agree that the writing is on the wall.

Dumb question but the final year of his contract is 2005...right? So he still might be on this team for two more season...counting this one...right?

His base salary will probably rise in his final remaining years...restructure??? I guess we'll wait-n-see!!!

Surtain always seems to miss the majority of training camp and a game or 2 early in the season.

Antrel (is how you spell it ;)) would be a great pick up... believe me, ive talked to him before about coming to the Dolphins... He says he doesnt care where he goes but it would be nice to be at home. The problem is, we will still need some offensive linemen and depending on how Lamar Gordon does, we will need a RB. I dont know that if this is a knee problem that anyone would give us 2 firsts for Pat... he's worth it, but not if his knee doesnt allow him to be up to par.
