I'd have to say the play that for me best describes Marino is, Dolphins at Steelers, Gregg LLoyd sacks Marino hard. Marino still on the ground grabs LLoyd and proceeds to yell at him. That showed to everyone watching what marino was all about. Me and my wife still talk about that play. It's still funny.

Fake Spike.

I don't think any one play can describe Dan for me...

I can only speak in general terms...

Drops back, plants, the rush is coming, he does a little foot shuffle and then ZING....blink of an eye the ball is gone just before the rush gets to him for a gain of 17 and a 1st down...

So many its difficult to pick one.He was such a competetive intense player you knew you always had a chance to win the game no matter how far we were behind.

Not that he was without his faults. He never admitted he was wrong. If he threw an Interception he would claim it was the receivers fault and then berate them in the huddle.I guess that came with the territory.

That's by far my favorite Marino moment ever.No pass play no fake spike play that one against the Steelers hands down.Marino's career in a nutshell in that one play.

Ya you could simple take one of the countless times he put the ball between several DB's on a bullet pass for 20+ yards. No one can hit the window like Marino...

I'd say any given play where the pocket is collapsing badly, and Marino does that sort of pocket step-up/swim move, and immediately cannons a ball 25 yards downfield in between 3 DBs and right into the WRs arms

Why the fake spike? When you think about it, it was a short pass that anyone could have completed. He didn't even come up with the concept of the fake spike or anything. I'm not saying it was a bad play or anything, it's one of the best in NFL history but it doesn't show the type of thing the guy could do. How about the 40+ yard throws he'd make under heavy pressure in the pocket?
