What's the point of waiting 180 seconds to search something?

I usually click on my posts to see if anybody has responded to it, but every time I click on my profile, it makes me wait three minutes to search. Curious if anybody else finds this annoying?

I asked about lowering the time limit sometime back. If I remember correctly it has something to do with keeping the bandwidth of the site low. This way the more important features function properly.
