He got surgery to reconstruct a torn ACL on May 16. In four days it will be four months since. According to this website,
http://www.dynomed.com/encyclopedia/encyclopedia/knee_and_lower_leg/Anterior_Cruciate_Ligament_Tear.html,
it takes 5-12 months to rehabiliate the knee. But according to reports on Jevon Walker who tore his ACL yesterday, he will likely be undergoing 8-12 months of rehabiliatation.

So why keep Poole on the PUP list? I know we lack depth at the secondary, and despite a impressive performance yesterday, we will likely need all the help possible as the season grinds on.

Does Poole make it back for the second half of the season, or say late November after 6 months of rehab if we are still competitive? Also remember he has little to no experience playing in the new devensive sheme.

Do we need him? Whats the actuality of torn ACL rehab time for NFL players?

I'm just anxious to see Poole play in our new D is all, and it would go a long way in cementing confidence, for me at least, about the secondary in the long run if we do indeed continue to be competitive like we were yesterday.

he will be back this season but i dont know when, he would have been put on ir if he was not comming back, they want to see him play before the seasons over just to see if he will be able to make it back, some guys never fully recover, if not we might need to draft a corner.

I'd like to see Poole this season but I don't want him to rush back. Remember, on top of recovering from a very serious injury, he needs to get into playing shape again. If he recovers, we may be set at corner for a long time.

This is the deal with Poole. He is on the PUP list. Which means that he MUST miss the first six weeks of the season and can not be activated anytime before that. After the six weeks, the team must either add him to the active roster or put him on IR.

My bet is after those six weeks, the team will put him on IR. I would rather see him take the extra time to heal then rush back.

No way he plays this year for us. The knee isn't even close fo fully healed, and putting him out there prior to 6-7 months would be way too risky.

Correction Nublar, after the 6 weeks are up the team has approximately 3 weeks to decide whether to put him on the active roster or put him on IR. And, teams can only place a player on the PUP list when they were injured prior to training camp...which is why we could not use the PUP list with some of our other injured phins.

ok, but I was close.

He'll be back for our AFC championship game.

LOL. I think the coaches might hold that roster spot for him hoping to get him in to help for the final push especially if we've got some injuries we're dealing with in the secondary.

I'll take it.

Me too, but in reality he should sit out the season. I think Howard will be ok on the outside and Daniels will step up and a least not embarass himself while gaining valuble experience. It is looking like Sam Madison may be trade bait in the off season for something like a 3rd rounder from a playoff/superbowl contender (Cincy?).

I can't say where we'll be in week 10, but I can say one thing. Don't rush a guy like Will Poole back before he is ready. The cornerback position is very physically straining; I could barely walk today from a sore groin I got just from a flag football game yesyerday playing corner. Miracles happen, but I don't want to risk Poole for next year and possibly years after that. I know these superhero stories happen in college with guys like Frank Gore coming back, but in college players cannot be signed to fill a roster spot.

Depends what our record is in my opinion. If we are playoff bound, he will be back imo. If we arent. Well, he goes on IR.

Poole could make it back that fast, because he tore it so incredibly early. He actually had the surgery on May 16. I believe the Dolphins will have to decide whether or not to put him on the roster before the Week 9 game against Atlanta on November 6, 2005. That will have been 6 months since the surgery. If it looked like he was only a few weeks away from playing they might hold the roster spot for him during those few more weeks.

I wouldn't say there's a GREAT chance he could recover from the ACL enough to contribute within 6.5 months, but there is a chance and I'd say its a chance worth putting him on PUP instead of IR for now.
