What's up with Tindall?

Here’s a recent thread on the Tindall topic

It's kinda normal for good teams that have depth to sit rookies drafted after day one and get them up to speed. It's a foreign concept around these parts the past 2 decades plus, cuz well we weren't good. It's a good strategy.

San Fran sat rookies often, so it makes sense we are following that script.

Tindall was atrocious in the Bears game when playing spy. Make him earn playing time. Skylar was forced into action, and had won early playing time, even getting a few snaps late on Sunday.

They’ve used him more against dual threat QBs as a spy. Otherwise, it seems as if they’re going the slow and steady developmental route. I’d like to see him get on the field some in blitzing situations, especially with the attention Chubb and Phillips draw. We are missing Brandon Jones a lot in that aspect. If you can get him as a free runner he’s got the speed to get to the QB in a hurry.

Very green LB coming out of college, coming into the draft. If you thought he'd play any significant snaps with a heavy workload then you are a fool. This guy will be our starting LB into his 3rd season. Tons of talent, just very green.

He looked lost and awful in the few snaps against Fields. The speed of game is still too fast for him as he's the 4th or 5th ILB getting limited development in practice and next to nothing in games.

By this time next year he should be a lot better and we will see some production. As a senior at UGA he was a rotational chess piece, but as a backup. He's got a steep learning curve. He has explosive athletic talent, but that's a dime a dozen in the league. If you're a step slow in progression and reaction, you taint gunna play.

Has he played the last few weeks?
I haven't heard his name called or seen him in on a tackle.
We might take another LB next year early in the draft.
In the second it's a coin toss between LB and CB.
What say you?
Don’t know why you’re surprised, he’s a rookie. That is what rookies do, or don’t do. Let’s see him next year before you send him to the electric chair

Let’s not act like the guy totally blew it against Fields. He played five snaps. On one of them, he made a nice play. On one of them, he spied poorly. On three of them, he didn’t matter.

I’d like to see more Tindall. Our ILBs suck.

The expectations are too high. Tindall is one of about 20 LBs in a deep LB class drafted this year. 3 of the 20 are starters currently, the 2 first round picks, Quay Walker (Tindall's former teammate) and Devin Lloyd, and the surprise 6th round pick Malcolm Rodriguez for the Lions. Troy Andersen (the kid I wanted at 50 before the Tyreek trade) started twice (and looked great, to be fair) as an injury replacement, but once the starters recovered, he's back on special teams duty. All the others are still mostly on special teams with the occasional defensive snaps here and there. Muma, Chenal, all of them. Heck, Nakobe Dean, who was touted as a future star, but slipped on draft day due to false rumors about needing surgery (he didn't), he played 3 snaps on defense in the first half of the season. He was the other starter ahead of Tindall at Georgia.

Tindall was one of the more raw prospects of the class with the least amount of experience. A slow start shouldn't surprise anyone.

Some players are ready right away and others take a while to develop (and some never do). Tindall is one that's going to take a while to develop. I feel good that he'll turn out ok if you don't give up on him too early.

I don't think it's any kind of script. It depends on the player.

Look at KK. UDFA is starting, and one of our best secondary players. Initially, he got snaps due to injuries, but the way he plays, he would have gotten his opportunities, regardless.
