Whats up with you Pessimist?!

Every team misses. Now the Pat White pick was stupid but no team is perfect in acquisitions. Unfortunately we have had some really stupid draft picks.

If you think Matt Moore is the answer you are sadly mistaken. This is the problem with bad QB play. You're desperate for a change so anyone looks good. I like Moore but he is not a solution. They have to draft and develop a franchise QB no is, ands or buts about it.

getting back to the OP title Pessimism is around though for good reason
in some ways being pessimistic is being a realist and not living in denial
though the dolphins might be turning the corner where i can optimistically say
the dolphins will win 8 games :p

Every team misses but at least they TRY. We haven't even tried to draft a QB in round 1 since 1983!!!!!

Are you kidding me?!??! Because of that we've missed out on Ryan, Freeman, McCoy and Mallett just in the last 4 years under Ireland. Until we get a GM who gets it - who has the balls and brains to draft QBs early and often until we get our franchise guy - then it's tough to keep asking Dolfans to fist pump for FGs.

Not true. We drafted Henne. But duly noted. Its not easy to find a "franchise qb." a term that is used loosely around here.

henne was second round i think and err white we traded a few seconds for busted qbs
i think if the oline continues to struggle moore has a better chance to make a play

True, I would love to see us get a franchise QB But I would like us to take one year to draft one given first round talent. Look at the top QBs in this League...Brady 6th round, Brees 2nd, Peyton 1st, Rodgers 1st, Rivers 1st, Schuab 3rd round...super bowl winners Eli and Roslesberger were 1st, not the best quarter backs...but went in first round. so out of here 5/8 1st round, you just never know?

The chances are Higher of finding a good quarter back in the first round, but theres always the Russels, Harringtons, and such up there too....maybe they didn't want Mallet?!?!?!? This years draft had like 4 QBs taken before the dolphins picked 15th

LET ME REMIND YOU GUYS, FOUR QUARTERBACKS WERE TAKEN IN THE FIRST ROUND BEFORE MIAMI PICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello, we beg for talent and you want to settle for 5th best...or even Mallet in the 2nd or third round which he went in? Pathetic...we complain but the talent really wasn't there this year, I'd rather the dolphins take as high a pick on a Quarterback that isn't 5th taken in the first round by 15....

Teams like Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Washington, Houston, etc. have done far less over the past 10 years and are likely to not do anything this year either. However, their fans show up to the games, support the team and have some sort of optimism entering this season. The Dolphins just have an overall ****ty fanbase.

I follow Detroit very closely and you are way off base. They have improved enormously under Martin Mayhew and Jim Schwartz. Millen wasn't fired until the fans stopped coming and blackouts were the norm. Do you recall the Millen man march?

You proved his point, you have Optimism

They have? In their two years I see 8 total wins. They had 7 total wins the previous two seasons and that includes the 0-16 season under Millen. However, the Lions did draft a Quarterback in the first round, so I guess that means everything is good and dandy. After all, isn't that all it takes in the NFL? A first round quarterback? A false sense of hope?

O-16 Millen fired. Talent level was junior varsity. They were being beaten by 30 points regularly.

2-14 Schwartz first year. Stafford drafted. They were much more competitive.

6-10 including their last 4. How can you forget the loss to them at home?

They have one of the best DL in football. The LB and secondary talent has greatly improved. Their offense is loaded with weapons. The weakness is the OL. A lot of analysts are picking them as a legitimate play off team.

And yes they drafted a first round QB who is Far better then yet another 2nd rounder we settled for.

You want a QB you get the balls to move up and grab your man
no matter what it takes...you don't sit back and say who will drop to us!

Feel free to root for those teams instead, if you're ok with mediocrity. And let's see: The first 3 you mentioned play in cities with not much else to do, the Texans aren't even 10 years old yet, and as crappy as the Redskins have been lately, their fan base has seen 3 Super Bowl wins since our last one.

Drop it Nubs. You don't know what you are talking about.
I know exactly what I am talking about, the Lions are improved, but they still suck. Could you imagine how the fan base would have acted if Sparano won only 8 games in his first two years after 1-15?

Mayhew and Schwartz inherited an 0-16 team and has a record of 8-24 in their first two seasons and fans still support them. Ireland and Sparano inherited a 1-15 team and had a record of 18-14 their first two seasons, a trip to the playoffs and a division title and the fans were already starting to call for their heads. I stand by my statement about the fans.

I agree with your statement on the Miami fan base but your knowledge of the Lions is limited to the standings at espn.com The fans are NOW back because of the progression. I was born and raised in Detroit Nubs. I know the history and team as well as the Dolphins.

Sparano is 25-24 to include a gift wrapped 11-5. The Dolphins are not as good as the Lions for one reason. Chad Henne.

2007 - Russel, Quinn taken first round
2008 - Ryan, Flacco
2009 - Stafford, Sanchez, Freemen
2010 - Brafford, Tebow

Nothing really stands out to me here outside of Ryan?! That draft we got the Top LT in the League. Before then we were a mediocre WINNING team not having enough draft value to get QBs because of winning seasons with crappy playoffs, (excuse 2004) The rest either are busts buy now (2007), managing (2008) and too early to tell for 2009 and 2010. Stafford can't get hurt AGAIN, sanchez really isn't that good, Freemen kinda stands out. Brafford and Tebow and still iffy. Brafford had a million pass attempts which helped his stats but still lost a division to a 7-9 seattle team...
