Whats up with you Pessimist?!

Teams like Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Washington, Houston, etc. have done far less over the past 10 years and are likely to not do anything this year either. However, their fans show up to the games, support the team and have some sort of optimism entering this season. The Dolphins just have an overall ****ty fanbase.
You do realize that the 1st three teams you list beat us last year. AT HOME!!!!!

True, I would love to see us get a franchise QB But I would like us to take one year to draft one given first round talent. Look at the top QBs in this League...Brady 6th round, Brees 2nd, Peyton 1st, Rodgers 1st, Rivers 1st, Schuab 3rd round...super bowl winners Eli and Roslesberger were 1st, not the best quarter backs...but went in first round. so out of here 5/8 1st round, you just never know?

The chances are Higher of finding a good quarter back in the first round, but theres always the Russels, Harringtons, and such up there too....maybe they didn't want Mallet?!?!?!? This years draft had like 4 QBs taken before the dolphins picked 15th

LET ME REMIND YOU GUYS, FOUR QUARTERBACKS WERE TAKEN IN THE FIRST ROUND BEFORE MIAMI PICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello, we beg for talent and you want to settle for 5th best...or even Mallet in the 2nd or third round which he went in? Pathetic...we complain but the talent really wasn't there this year, I'd rather the dolphins take as high a pick on a Quarterback that isn't 5th taken in the first round by 15....
I wish the dolphins were allowed to trade up.

This regime has only been here for three years played and one upcoming season. And yest they have give me plenty of reason to not a pessimist. Where do I start?

Look if you are with us, you are with us, if not jump off the wagon because the show is going to go on!

I know exactly what I am talking about, the Lions are improved, but they still suck. Could you imagine how the fan base would have acted if Sparano won only 8 games in his first two years after 1-15?

Mayhew and Schwartz inherited an 0-16 team and has a record of 8-24 in their first two seasons and fans still support them. Ireland and Sparano inherited a 1-15 team and had a record of 18-14 their first two seasons, a trip to the playoffs and a division title and the fans were already starting to call for their heads. I stand by my statement about the fans.
Maybe it is because they are going in a positive direction. Just saying.

No we expect more than some of the bottomfeeding teams, especially the older fans. We we're used to competitive football teams every year, playoffs as a ritual and contending to reach the Superbowl.
We were used to a team that seemed to prioritize the QB position. Don Shula clearly understood the importance of top flight quarterbacking......Unitas, Griese & Marino.

I can accept whats happened the last 11 years as far as mistakes and losing seasons, nothing is going to change that I am a lifelong fan of this team. But what I can't accept is making the same mistakes year after year and not learning from it. How did we not draft a young QB with the mess our QB situation is? Its unforgivable.

No, I will not go root for those teams, I am a Dolphins fan. Always have been, always will be. I am not OK with "mediocrity", but I am also not OK with bandwagon negative fans. I don't live in Florida, so I can't go to every home game, but being out of state allows me to see what is going on elsewhere in NFL cities and I can see a big problem with the Dolphin fan base.

My first Dolphins game in Miami was the 2000 playoff game against the Colts. I just happened to be in Florida(Orlando) the week they were up in New England and the weekend after. After the Dolphins won the division title I thought it would be really cool to drive down to Miami and see the playoff game. Though I thought tickets would be impossible to get. Called up, and I had a wide variety of tickets to choose from. Not only that, the game ended up being blacked out in Miami because they didn't sell out the stadium.

Since that season, I make a special trip down from Pennsylvania to see the Dolphins play in Miami. It is a shame to say, but every time the stadium is far from being filled and a lot of the fans at the game are not even Dolphins fans. Last year I was at the Bears game and the year before that the Saints game. Both games had a fair share of empty seats and I would say the stadium had close to 40% Saints and Bears fans. It was really pathetic last year because the game against the Bears was a prime time night game when the Dolphins were in the thick of the playoff race. Thousands of empty seats and Bears fans everywhere. I thought I was in Chicago when I went to my seat.

Everyone talks about how this team needs a new QB, or new coach, or new GM or new owner. Maybe we need an upgrade to the fan base also? I know some of you don't want to here this, but this is a big problem and became a national laughingstock with the whole "We want Orton" chant at the FREE practice at Sun Life Stadium.

The other prominent excuse I get from Dolphins fan is exactly what you said. "play in cities with not much else to do". That is the oldest most pathetic excuse out there. The Dolphins play a regular season home game 8 times per year. There are 365 days in a year, so a season ticket holder would have to commit 2.2% of their year to attending the games. Is there so much to do in Miami that you can't spare 8 days(we are only talking in most cases a commitment of 4-6 hours in these days) to go to a game? If you don't fish, will the fish go away? Will the ocean go away that you can't swim the next day? Come on now.

If the Dolphins have a losing season, Sparano will be gone, Ireland might be gone and they will probably draft a first round quarterback. Everything the fans seem to be yelling for. Still though, the fans will still stay at home, the stadium will have empty seats and opponents fans will fill the stadium. That problem will never go away and is a major problem that most of you are blind to.
Agree 100% with u. i cant stand when people say that as an excuse.

its one thing if someone says they dont go to the game because it is out of their price range, they rather watch it on tv, etc. when people say things such as '' their are better things to do here as opposed to other cities'', it boggles my mind.

as u said, 1 day a week, 8 days total a year is all the dolphins play at home, unless their are playoffs. as far as im concerned, when its footballs season, the only thing to do on sundays is watch football.

Chris Chambers, Randy McMichael, Ricky Williams, Wes Welker, Larry Chester, Adewale Ogunleye, Junior Seau, Todd Wade, Jim Bates, Norv Turner, Chan Gailey, etc. These were coaches or players either drafted or signed by your BFF Dave Wannstedt and his partner Rick Spielman. Based on this list, we shouldn't have gotten rid of Wanny and Spielboy (I'm sure you agree).

We have good quality in my opinion and I think this team will do a hellavah lot better than most of these "fans" seem to believe. I see a lot of young talent acquired through these drafts that are blowing me away.

The defense has every reason to be great. It's tough to worry about them. But the offense has too many holes. I wish it weren't so.

Those teams (except WSH) Have HOPE at the freaking QB position!!!

Nubs, bro. How can you be at your computer, typing in that Detroit sucks, and then at the same time give me a hard time for being so dissapointed in the fact that we indeed suck? How can you be serious about that when you consider the FACT that Detroit beat us on our own field just a few regular season games ago? If that isnt enough, consider they did it without their QB that they drafted in round 1 a few years ago because he was injured. Then finally, consider that the primary reason we lost to them was the guy who we will continue to use at QB for the present time.

Seriously. Answer me that first question. Just give me some kind of answer.

After you answer, I wouldnt mind debating with you that Detroit sucks. I happen to think they arent that bad and they actually have some hope for the future. Suh IMHO is the best defensive player in the league. If their QB can stay healthy for a whole season, I think they can be a pretty decent team. But, for now lets just stick to the first question I posed. Lets just have a normal conversation about that.

Well said my friend.....at least give your favorite team a chance to fail before sticking a fork in them...

This FO has upgraded the DL, LB, Secondary, OL, RB and WR in this short offseason....with special teams looking like a upgrade early.....now lets see if it results in more wins.

A team can't win in the NFL without a QB, sadly, the Phins still don't have one.

Cleveland beat New England last year they must be MUCH better by your logic.
We beat Green Bay are we better than them too?

Edit: And what do you mean by a few regular seasons ago? Last time we played them other than last year I believe we slaughtered them on Thanksgiving with their own rejected Joey Harrington the Piano Man?!?!

This about sums it up. Upsets happen every season. Detroit beat Miami, Cleveland beat New England, Buffalo had the Ravens and Steelers in overtime. How can anyone really say that Detroit is a good team when they have won 8 games in two years and still had a worse record than Miami even after beating them. Sure they might be on a slow climb up, but they still suck. I highly doubt Detroit is going to be in the playoff race.

Though the whole point wasn't about comparing the talent level of the Lions and Dolphins. It was how even the worse teams in the league have better fan support than the Dolphins. Even when the Lions are at their worst the fans still support them and find optimism in a new year. The Dolphins can have a home playoff game and still struggle for fan support. That is the problem.
