Whats up with you Pessimist?!

We have good quality in my opinion and I think this team will do a hellavah lot better than most of these "fans" seem to believe. I see a lot of young talent acquired through these drafts that are blowing me away. (Jimmy Wilson, Moore, Gates, Long, Hartline, Bess, Carpenter, Odrick, Misi, Reshard Jones was 5th round, Vontae, Sean Smith) WHO THE F*** said the dolphins don't develop young talent?!?! I've read that on these forums as well....Remember the Superbowl bound Dallas team last year?! Their fans and media were convinced they were that best and they sucked horribly.

Did you guys pick Arizona to play Pittsburg in the superbowl a few years ago? how about Chicago winning the division from GreenBay, Oakland going 6-0 in their division?! STOP thinking you guys are experts (who go around posting who we should and should not get...like Brady Quinn :p ) and can run this team with your eyes closed. Ross as done everything he can to get this team going straight.

And what the heck with seeing a couple people post the Fins not taking chances like Vick, Wtf who the hell would have thought vick would turn into what he did? McNabb is washed up, and Orton is NOT as good as you think he is. We all wanted Culpepper?!?! Feely?!?! Remember shouting for Rosenfels to get a chance once upon a time?!?! Screw this, I'm excited for the new season to start. Support your friggin team and stop being a hater.

Edit: Don't Forget about the Free Agent Pickups like Dansby, Wake, Marshall, Burnett, Trading for cb Sapp, and teh like this team has done to get better. Bush for excitment?! Our owner has spent a lot of money in the free agent world as well, even for bust like Smiley...we have some close and tought losses last year...I"m not giving up on this team!!

Finally, an intelegent post from someone. The guys have an up and down game, which they won I might add, and everyone jumps ship. They have practiced as a unit for two weeks. Mental errors were the main issue. Henne got picked off on a catchable drop by Fasano and a busted route by Bess. Mental errors. Miami fans talk crap about the press being all over the Pats nuts, when half of them carry the same wishy washy opinion each week. Get a grip or jump off ship permantley!

This about sums it up. Upsets happen every season. Detroit beat Miami, Cleveland beat New England, Buffalo had the Ravens and Steelers in overtime. How can anyone really say that Detroit is a good team when they have won 8 games in two years and still had a worse record than Miami even after beating them. Sure they might be on a slow climb up, but they still suck. I highly doubt Detroit is going to be in the playoff race.

Though the whole point wasn't about comparing the talent level of the Lions and Dolphins. It was how even the worse teams in the league have better fan support than the Dolphins. Even when the Lions are at their worst the fans still support them and find optimism in a new year. The Dolphins can have a home playoff game and still struggle for fan support. That is the problem.

Wow Nubs.....where do you get this propaganda?

The Dolphins have been down lately but still ranked 16th, 19th & 20th the last 3 years in attendance, while the LIONS you quoted ranked 29th, 31st & 32nd.

The Dolphins had anywhere from 15,000-20,000 more fans in the stadium every week than the Lions. Yet all you do is dump on Dolphin fans?

So what exactly was your point again?

Paid attendance and actual attendance are two completely different things. The Dolphins "sell out" their games, but come on now, the stadium is usually 15-30% empty. Also, have you been to a game? Have you seen all the opposing fans that fill up the stadium? I would estimate that 35-40% of the fans that do attend the game, are rooting for the other team. If the Dolphins play the Lions in Detroit would Dolphins fans make up 35-40% of the crowd? Doubt it.

Unless we are an AFC title game type team, id rather go 0-16. mediocrity (6/10-9/7 type seasons) has gotten us nothing and will keep us dwindling in no mans land.

I dont want one magical 10-6 playoff run to get blasted by the Ravens or Steelers. I want sustained success, year in and year out, a perennial playoff team/superbowl contender like the Pats, Steelers, and Colts of the world.

wow you must have been in heaven in 2007 huh?

Nublar, Your seriously one of the biggest Dolphin homers i've ever seen in my life. I tend to be a realist and see what Miami is really becoming and currently it seems like they are not trying to avoid it. With that being said, i'm not sure how you can say "Even when the Lions are at their worst the fans still support them"

By the way, all I did was type in "lions fans" into google.com . The 6 pictures you see below are THE FIRST 6 PICTURES SHOWN when i clicked on images. I'm sure there are 100's more just like the ones shown

I live in the northeast and I have to say I've seen this first hand when I've come to Miami to watch the Phins play at home. Recently I've seen Jets twice, Oak and NE and the amount of "away" fans is crazy. That Jet chant is just as loud in Miami as it is in the Meadowlands!

I do. Ive been to quite a few road games. In fact, Ive only been to our stadium once. Everytime I go to a road game, there is a large contengent of phins fans. EVERYTIME. We have a very large national fanbase. The phins are one of those teams that probably have more fans outside of South Florida than they do that actually live in South Florida.

The only place Ive been to where there werent a real strong phins fan presence was Indianapolis in 2000. And Travis Minor scampered down the sidelines for a huge score and then midway through the 4th qtr Jay FIEDLER hit Chris Chambers on a pretty bomb to give the phins a 27-23 victory. Peyton Manning also had his jaw broken in that game on a wicked hit by Lorenzo Bromell. I hit big on the phins +3.5 and the OVER 47. Obviously, that was a huge TD by Fiedler and Chambers.

The Dolphins do next to nothing to fix a horrible offense and I'm supposed to be optimistic? I will be optimistic when they give me a reason to.

Yes I am such a homer that I think the fan base is not great. If I was such a homer, wouldn't I say the fans are great? My point was that even though the Lions are coming off 8 wins in the past three seasons, their fans are excited for the new season. Buffalo hasn't made the playoffs since 1999, yet there fans are still excited and likely to fill the stadium early(at least until their season falls apart). A new season brings new hope, new excitement and it doesn't matter if you don't like the coach or don't have a franchise QB, you still believe.

Dolphins fans on the other hand probably won't fill every seat at the MNF opener. I expect there to be at least 30% of the stadium full of New England Patriots fans. I will be there in person for that game, so I will get to verify this. Like I said earlier, even when the Dolphins had a prime time home game in the thick of the playoff race, they couldn't fill the stadium against the Bears. Like I already said, 35-40% of the fans were Bears fans. They had their home playoff game in 2000 blacked out. THOSE ARE THE REASONS I BLAME THE FANS. Could you imagine if the Bills had a home playoff game? Tickets would be impossible to get.

When were those pictures taken? At the end of games when fans have left? Late in the season when they are out of playoff conention? Some of you still FAIL to get the point I am making, and it is a good one so listen again. When these BAD teams start a new season, there is excitement in the air, fans are hopefull and for the most part the stadium is full and have a large majority of their fans in the stadium. The Dolphins are coming off a 7-9 season, not good and not horrific. There are a lot of fans that are not excited, would rather laugh at the team than root for it, and a lot are hoping for the league worse record(the suck for Luck crowd). Every seat will not be full early in the season and we will see 35-40% opposing fans in the stadium, just like we see every year. Doesn't even matter if Miami starts off 8-0, attendance will still be mediocre and opposing fans will still represent a large chunk of the crowd. Think I am lying? I was at the Saints game in 2009, and the Dolphins were just coming off a huge win against the Jets and in the thick of the AFC East race. I felt like I was in New Oreans. Last year I was at the Bears game, and the Dolphins were coming off a big win against the Titans and were very much alive in the AFC playoff hunt, felt like I was in Chicago.

That is the problem I have with the fan base, even when the team is showing signs of life and in the playoff hunt fans would rather just say "eh they suck", stay home and not support the team. The Dolphins had to actually go after season ticket holders this year because they bought tickets but refused to pay for them. The team has issues, no doubt about it, but so do the fans. You can call me a homer, or blind, or whatever you want, but the fan base has big issues also. Something that a simple change at head coach or GM is not going to fix.

Exactly, you get it and have experienced it also. Maybe fans from Miami don't see the issue because they don't experience other stadiums or crowds. I have seen Eagle crowds, Penn State crowds, Bills crowds, etc. and nothing is as bad as what goes on in Miami. Perhaps you think 30-40% of opposing fans is the norm. Wake up people it is not.

The Dolphins could fire Sparano, hire Cowher, draft Luck and the issues at the stadium still will not change.

You could fill a stadium with 1 million people to cheer on a turd, but it will still smell the same.

Go easy with the facts, they just get in the way sometimes.
