Whats up with you Pessimist?!

Paid attendance and actual attendance are two completely different things. The Dolphins "sell out" their games, but come on now, the stadium is usually 15-30% empty. Also, have you been to a game? Have you seen all the opposing fans that fill up the stadium? I would estimate that 35-40% of the fans that do attend the game, are rooting for the other team. If the Dolphins play the Lions in Detroit would Dolphins fans make up 35-40% of the crowd? Doubt it.
They did in St. Louis I was there.

Go easy with the facts, they just get in the way sometimes.

They are bloated facts, but hey that doesn't matter right? How many times have the Dolphins "sold out" games and when you see the stadium over 20% is empty? Sure they have a better paid attendance, but they have a low actual attendance. As I have also said numerous times that people ignore, a lot of the fans that make up that attendance are rooting for the opposing team.

You mean like me and the other fin fans in St. louis. ???? The fans in Miami have the right to not go to the game when the team is crappy, go ahead and get over it already.

Again, you FAIL to understand the point. When the team is "crappy" they have a right not to show up. However, what is the excuse when the team is good and in the playoffs? What is the excuse for that?

The Lions had an average attendance of less than 50,000 in one year recently, so your example is no good.

Yes it does get 100 degrees in Miami during the first half the season and when the team is not competitive many fans that pay for tickets choose not to go, but your example is poor.

FinHeaven.com - Dont hate the player, hate the fanbase.

PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS? Where is Mora when you need him?. Or did I FAIL again because I don't happen to agree with you?.

LOL, Loved that

According to half the fans posting on this thread, a bad opening to the preseason must be indicative of a bad season...The year the colts went 14-2 they were 0-5 in the Preseason. The 2007 Patriots Lost their first preseason game 10-13, I wonder if that sent waves of pessimism among New England?! They followed up 18-1, the truth still is....No one can truly know so STAY OPTIMISTIC if your a fan. Anything can happen and id rather die cheering than moaning and complaining.

where is the fan support?

Well, its hard to say. I mean when we played in the Orange Bowl, can people say it was back then like it is now?

Could be that the area itself has changed with such a melting pot of people from different international back grounds and they have other loves that dont really include American Football. It doesnt help that economy wise, we dont have a great wage scale down here so odds are if the team isnt doing good, then the party isnt there and people want to spend their extra cash where the party and the fun is at. So they'll go someplace else. Ross is trying to lure people in to try and distract them from the team itself (when we do bad) by adding clubs and whatnot, but....

I know a lot of you that post here and are great fans either lived here before and moved out.

All in all when I cant come up with a quick answer to the fanbase issue here, I just ask the question:

Do you want to go see men sweating and falling over themselves or do you want to go and check this out:

Whatever man, if you chose to be blind to the problems in the stands be my guest. When playoff games are being blacked out, thousands of empty seats, and 35-40% of the fans are opposing fans is indeed a problem. But hey, Cowher and Luck would magically solve a problem that is 15 years or more old. You can bash the front office, coaching staff and players, but when the attention is turned on you the fan, you refuse to acknowledge the problem. You can't take the heat.

They actually have statistics on the number of tickets checked at the stadium, rather than those sold. In those statistics the Dolphins are middle of the pack. Eyeballing the crowd and thinking you can get the mood of a huge stadium and tens of thousands of people is no substitute for hard numbers.

Do they have the statistics that show how many opposing fans walk into the stadium? That you can eyeball and it is a very disturbing number.

All depends on how you define pessimism. I think pessimism for the upcoming season is expecting the team to be in the Luck chase, expecting a 2 to 3 win season. We have too much talent for that, even with Henne pulling the strings. However I define realism as anywhere between 4 and 9 wins. 10 and above is lunacy :), lol.

I've watched some of pretty much all the preseason games now, this weekend and I have to say there are a few teams in a lot worse state than us, the 49ers, the Broncos, the Bengals and the Chiefs have got real issues, if I was to power rank the dolphins right now, I would put us in and around the 20 mark, another mediocre season though does absolutely nothing for this franchise.
