What's wrong with the blitz???

In the last 3 games, I have noticed that Miami is getting NOTHING from their blitz packages. Sometimes, they'll go in with 6 and not get any pressure on the QB. I may be mistaken, but I have not seen one sack (if one) from the blitz since the first game. They seem to do better with a 4-3. Could someone give a little insight? Maybe I'm missing something here?

The answer is simple, Stop blitzing zach thomas

he has sucked at this his whole career. He gets caught up at the line. Just to add to that, he played like crap yesterday, and got burnt all over the field, other teams are flat out targeting him with the TE.

the effectiveness of our blitz packages seem much worse than last year. our overall pass rush seems much worse. And the scary thing is it's been against: Batch, Losman, & Collins. We still have to see pennington ewice and brady twice.

I agree. Zach Thomes isn't much of a blitzer, and the blitz really isn't netting any sacks for us. I think it has alot more to do with our weak secondary, and the coaches not wanting the QB to have enough time to find somebody wide-open deep.

Name one linebacker on this team capable of being a factor in the blitz packages.

We don't have one, and we haven't in years......

It's called an aging front 7 with a slow MLB/ILB. Anyone that plays fantasy football, or is knowledgeable about defensive matchups against the phins, knows we give up a LOT of TE yards and scores. Much of the time you'll see Zach trailing the TE in coverage. His name is now becoming a detriment. Teams are targeting him and exploiting him.

The only effective blitzes for us involve our young DBs. Because they are fast. If we are to continue moving to the 3-4, we're going to need a couple more fast LBs. We simply don't have the personnel right now.

I was going to post something on this topic also. Everytime we blitz we are giving up big plays. If Karry Collins was any good at all he would have had about 100 more passing yards. He had recievers open deep every single time we rushed...it was disgusting. It's like our guys just try to pile into the middle of the line instead of running around somebody.

I hope you were being fecicious. We got 2 sacks against one of the worst offensive teams in the NFL (I'll leave us out of that conversation for now). And both of them come from our 100yo DT who had 16 sacks his entire career before yesterday. The same DT who is our oldest AND slowest lineman on the team.

Sure, Traylor's playing at a very high level right now.... But, not many are going to see encouragement from that considering all the "all world" talent we supposedly have on D.
